No home field advantage because of schedule

Flying to play the division games isn't a big deal at all. Same east coast time and at most what 3.5 hours in the air? They do it annually.

KC isn't far.

LA is a trip because it's across all the time zones so I'll give you that. London is longer too but the Giants beat Miami there and what about Oakland? They had the killer flight that year they played Miami overseas.

That's a lot of long flights. KC was the cold weather game I missed, since I was posting from my phone while standing up on the train. Our schedule isn't hard because of the teams ... it's all the other stuff that makes it hard IMHO.

Gotta win in those environments in the playoffs anyway. Real men would at least.

But, no team is going to make the playoffs if they have to play too many playoff type games. No team, including the Cheatriots, wants long flights. No team wants to give up a home game for London. No team wants the type of schedule we have. Again, it's not the teams that make it so hard, its the circumstances. We get zero games to use our home field advantage. We play at least 4 games where the opponents home field advantage is accentuated because of the time of year. Just basic common sense. If we're interested in winning playoff games, we have the best chance if we actually make the playoffs. Ditto for any Super Bowl dreams. Not sure whether a real man would prefer to miss the playoffs or not, but I'd guess he'd prefer to get there to have a chance of winning.

We are always the at the top of list of most traveled teams. That's one of the disadvantages of our location. I think Seattle is usually at the top too.

That's a good point.

But we're getting all of the disadvantages of our location without any of the advantages. I'm fine with playing 4 cold weather away games during snow season, but we should also get 4 games against cold weather teams in Miami in the hot part of the season ... or at least something roughly equal. This year we get zero cold weather teams in Miami for the hot part of the season. When the schedules are made ... we're just not one of the marquee teams who get many breaks. They accommodate those teams first, and we get what's left. Hopefully if Gase makes us into a consistently winning team that is typically in the playoffs most years, we'll start getting a more even allotment of that sort of thing. Fingers crossed at least.

I hate this division. It won't always be that way, but when realignment happened, Indy should have stayed and we should have left. It's that simple. Sure, the AFC South is probably the least popular division, but the Dolphins would be perinnial power houses in there. Now we just have to keep waiting for the future.

might be cause the nfl doesn't want players dying of heat stroke in miami or getting sued for metabolic imbalance syndrome in 20 years. as far as the cold goes, suck it up.

Fortunately for Seattle though, they get to play in the Sister Mary School of the Blind division. Aka, Rams, Niners and Cardinals.

Give me a break if we're as good as I think we will be, the Rock will be rocking (loud as Hell) I will leave each game probably horse from yelling. Let's go Miami

The Falcons game is easily the worst scheduling situation we face: Three games away from home followed by hosting the Titans. Then instead of an extended road trip it's immediately back on the road to face Atlanta. From a psychological standpoint that is very difficult to deal with. It's like the body and mind say...you've got to be kidding, we've got to pack and go again?

That's the type of thing the situational specialists immediately look for. The sports media is unaware of the trend so it's seldom mentioned, as opposed to the more obvious stuff like distance traveled.

In the NBA that scenario of an extended road trip followed by only one game home and then immediately back on the road can produce some of the flattest efforts you'll ever see in that final game. It's so bad that many teams rest starters because they know even a team at full strength probably can't cope. The sportsbooks often delay putting up the line on that game because there's such great advantage to the home team, and uncertainty toward who will play for the road team.
