Replacements for X, Wilkins, Hunt, Berrios, Ogbah, Wilson in the draft

21. DB Terrion Arnold - Alabama - I think Mitchell and Wiggins have surpassed Arnold in the DB rankings and he might still be available here. If we don't have a good DB opposite Ramsey, then our defense is going to suck.

55. DT Braden Fiske - FSU - He was one of the best performing D-linemen at the combine and he had a good Senior Bowl.

156. OG Brandon Coleman - TCU - He had a very good combine. He has the size and athleticism to replace Hunt.

185. WR Malik Washington - Virginia - He had 111 receptions last year and he is a good return specialist. He could be a replacement for Berrios.

199. DE Myles Cole - Texas Tech - We have to address DE in the draft and Free Agency.

238. RB Tyrone Tracy - Purdue - Wilson might be a salary cap casualty and Mostert is frequently injured.
No thanks. Too high for a DB this year. We already drafted one last year, that’s who we have. We can look at a reasonably priced free agent if one is available, but I don’t see us drafting a DB in the first round, just because the class is pretty weak this year. No one knows, but I would guess in order of likelihood:

1. Tackle
2. WR
3. Pass Rusher/edge
4.Center

That order of likelihood with our first two picks depending upon who’s available. we have major holes on the offensive line and Tackle is a premium position just like DB. I see them rolling the dice with our second round pick, Needham, Kohou, and maybe an another free agent, and some low round or undrafted players at the DB position.

I like the idea, we need more picks; but if that center from Oregon is there, I think I'd pounce and not risk it.

That's exactly where I am at.

If JPJ is there, he's my pick regardles....
Unless you get a truly crazy offer of course. But an extra 2nd or 3rd won't do it fir me.

If JPJ is gone at 21, well trade away lol

No to a CB in the 1st (Smith and Bonner) and no to a 5'6" Wr at 156#'s (I don't care how fast he is, does no good if you can't get off the line. We have 2 of those now) we have more pressing needs.

Yeah, I think Smith and Bonner have to be the current on the roster faves to replace Howard. Maybe snag a cheap vet once the FA dust has settled; someone with no injury history who is at least competent, for some depth and stability.

What if Powers-Johnson and Mims are both available? Pleasant dilemma obviously, but what would you do?

As an aside a lot of mocks have Pittsburgh taking Powers-Johnson right before Miami's pick.

Taking JPJ.

I feel with Tua and this offense. IOL is more important then tackle play.

Just my opinion.

Can I trade my 1st next year to Philly so I can get both lol?

Of course as usual, the players who the Dolphins really need will be taken just before we select, and there won't be anybody worth trading up for so we wont be able to trade down and we will have to select a reach.

That's a lot of replacements coming from a draft where teams on average hit about.. what, 20% of their picks?

If we draft a corner in the first round I’m going to be furious.

Best move is to trade down and pick up some additional picks to help fill in those needs. I would NOT spend a premium pick on replacing Wilkins — would rather sign multiple guys to split those reps.

I'm hoping Keon Coleman drops because of his 40 time, like Anquan Boldin did.

There's going to be some serious talent at 21. Hopefully, to your point, someone who fits.

With Tua that makes a ton of sense. I would love a really good LT, but I think that's not as necessarily as other teams since Tua is a lefty.

I also wonder if Smith could be the guy to take over for Armstead? That would take one more need off the table, but maybe that's overly optimistic.
