Rex Ryan has been **** canned

What a season right ? We sweep the Jets we sweep Buffalo get fat ass Rex Ryan fired in the process and make the playoffs and finally have a good head coach wow!! Other than a Super Bowl appearance or victory you cannot ask for no more than that .

Yeah I was actually scared Marrone would stay their coach with swartz as DC. It's easy to forget that Doug Marrone actually left the bills on his own via a Clause in his contract.

When Marrone left the Bills GM wanted Hue Jackson as head coach and leave the defense under Schwartz as DC. But the Pegulas had just spent a billion dollars buying the Bills and they wanted the splashy hire. Rex wowed them and they went in that direction even though the strength was a 4-3 attacking D. Looks like they learned and will let Whaley lead the search for head coach.

If the Bills hire a big name like Coughlin then you know the Pegulas made the pick.

If an unknown name like Anthony Lynn then Whaley made the pick.

It's so great to be able to laugh at the Bills & Jets misfortunes as we prepare early for the playoffs with a rookie HC. :df81:

**** off, Sons of Ryan.

Listening to rocket scientist Anthony Lynn's first press conference. Asked who would be starting at QB, first he said "Kordell Jones" before correcting himself, saying EJ Manuel". Asked why, he said "It was a business decision."

When asked whether or not it was his choice he said "It was OUR choice."

This is the ghost of Bills future.

Rest in peace, Buffalo Bills. The 2016 Grim Reaper claims yet another.

I'm sure Rex will land on his feet. To be fair to him he never had solid footing in Buffalo. He just needs to stick with it, put one foot in front the other and press on. When you think about it, he was probably a few feet away from winning that last game against us.

It was a head scratcher when they hired him. Rex's D is a 3-4 built on blitzing, and the Bills dominant D under Marrone was a wide 9 with speedy LBs. And it's been said before, his attitude didn't work on Buffalo players like it did on the Jets

Let's also not understate that in Baltimore he had the likes of ray Lewis, ngata, ed reed and suggs. Pro bowlers and hall of famers. With the jets his blitz schemes were able to be so effective early on cause he had a prime Revis shutting down half the field. Nice luxuries to have

In Baltimore this is true, but even in New York the defenses started to get exposed once teams figured out the blitzing

USA Today: Rex Ryan's Failed Promises Sealed His Fate With The Bills

But after nearly two full seasons, it became clear that vision wouldn't be fulfilled. After another year out of the playoffs (that’s 17 straight seasons without a postseason appearance), Ryan’s fate was sealed.

With an undisciplined defense and major questions at quarterback moving into next year, the Bills are no closer to competing in the AFC East than they were when Ryan was hired. And Saturday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins, who clinched a playoff berth in Adam Gase's first year as coach, showed the Bills were indeed a team trending downward.

When Ryan took over, the Bills ranked No. 4 in total defense. The unit fell to 19th in his first season, and it stands in that same slot this year upon his firing.

NFL coaches' hot seat rankings: Who's feeling the most heat now?

Two seasons may seem like a short lifespan for a head coach, but Ryan was a proven entity when he arrived in Orchard Park. The Bills knew they were getting a coach with a plus-size personality and a reputation for crafting a complicated and nasty defense. He promised playoffs and memorable battles with Bill Belichick’s Patriots and was unable to deliver.

The Bills’ run defense (133.5 yards allowed per game) is the fifth-worst in the NFL, in part because of poor tackling. Those struggles were evident in the loss to the Dolphins, as running back Jay Ajayi had his second 200-yard rushing day against the Bills this season.

The Bills also went 1-3 against the Patriots during Ryan’s tenure in Orchard Park. The lone win came earlier this season while Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was suspended.

It will be interesting now to see the market for Ryan, 54, after two failed stints as a head coach. His personality makes him popular, but will another owner take a chance on a coach who has never won a division title? Or will Ryan be interested in taking a defensive coordinator job?

Word is Whaley will not only lead the search but retain control over the 53 man roster. This is setting up for Lynn who is open to that arrangement.
