Good guess.IMO Bama has been waiting for the end of the NFL season to hire a NFL coach who is fired or retired not necessarily Saban.

I do think Bama will approach Saban but after he says no they will go after someone like Coughlin,Mora.

It's no guess.

im so sick of this story. Saban needs to just leave already and let's rebuild the right way this time!!!!

:yeahthat:

I couldn't agree more. I'm tired of all this too, and in my opinion, Saban hasn't truly committed to rebuilding this team. He's basically taken the easy way out since day one....

He brought in a bunch of old veterans on defense, and has been riding his coaching reputation on them ever since. The offense has gone nowhere under Saban in these last two seasons, so he's still got tons to prove in terms of coaching in my opinion...

Let's not forget how horribly these teams have started out either. At 3-7{2005} / 1-6{2006}, those are almost insurmountable odds against making anything come the post season. Obviously, this is a major problem, and it all points to coaching.....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

Saban would be a fool for not leaving..how the hell you pass all that money up?

not me

if being "rich" is not your primary goal in life, and you find yourself in that position already...as in set for life, family set for life... I think it is much easier to turn down just "money" to fulfill your dream of a Superbowl win.

happy new years bro !! best of everything to you and yours!

I totally agree with your point, Happy New Year!

Saban would completely DESTROY any and all of the reputation he ever had if he leaves to Bama now.. Not only would he be considered a failure in the NFL, he would look like a liar and a hypocrite.. For these reasons alone, I cannot see him going...

If he does, he better damn well hope he becomes the next Bear Bryant in Alabama, because he will NEVER get another job in the NFL ever again...

Never say never but if he leaves for Bama job then how could a NFL team want him to coach after leaving the Fins like he would have done? If he leaves maybe as far as the NFL was concerned the grass was not greener on the other side after all. Should have stayed at LSU thought where expectations are at least somewhat realistic compared to Bama where if you don't win a couple of SEC titles or a NC you are crapola and they want your head on a platter. Which basically meant every coach except for Stallings since the Bear passed.

Shula is the only coach since Stallings that was fired for on-field performance. One left on his own and two were fired for moral issues.

I was thinking of Curry and Perkins in the 80's combined with Du Bose, Franchione (spelling?) and the rest of them. From what I understand and the best of knowledge Franchione felt that soon enough he was going to be axed anyway and was very unhappy at Tuscaloosa. And the word on the street was that he was one of many who told Rich Rodriguez in confidence not to go for the job cause of the unrealistic expectations that come with the job. The Price thing was his own doing and Bama was the unfortunate victim of someone's idiotic actions. And actually all the recrutiing violations came out of DuBose's regime who was as crooked as some other guys who have not been caught yet. DuBose has been pointed to as a villain and a sore eye for the legacy of the program according to a few Bama fans I have talked with on the subject.

In the 80's Perkins left for TB coaching job but was probably going to be axed cause of other teams in the SEC (namely LSU, Awbarn, FL) who were catching up and surpassing Bama on the field and in recruiting. Also, if you look at history Bill Curry was fired specifically because he could not beat Pat Dye and Awbarn. This was well know among SEC fans and the press at the time it happened in late 80's.

Hey I know your a Bama fan and want to defend your school. Though I am a LSU die hard and Fin fan all the same I respect Bama's tradition and the awesome products the school has put on the field along with all the great players down through the years. Of any opposing teams fan's I have the most respect for Bama fans who are very knowledgeable and for the most part classy (especially compared to Awbarn fans who's team I loathe to the max).

But, in my IMHO and among many other SEC fans your school and its fan base are definitley living in the past and have put extreme pressure on coaches since the early '80s to replicate the Bear's success or else. Now if Bama starts putting together a program going forward that is competitive year in and out for SEC championships and NC then the past would come full circle and good luck with whoever takes the job to keep up the pace as the expectations will rise even higher. Your thoughts on the subject is welcomed. Although a non Fins issue always like to write and talk SEC football with loyal fans of their team!

Bill Curry was not fired at Alabama

He left on his own. That's a fact.

He left on his own. That's a fact.

Under durress that is. He was going to be ousted and he chose the better path by just making it easier for the school by leaving on his own. Simply put they wanted him gone cause he could not beat Awbarn. Essentially he was fired without being fired because there was no way the school was going to welcome him back. Maybe not officially fired but in every essence of the word he fired/quit simultaneously. That is leaving without being 'officially' fired out of mutual benefit. Kinda like when an employer tells an employee on any other job he aint producing and the employee admits he has been looking for other opporutnities. Both agree to part ways he to state quit on their own as official reason for termination in order for the employee to gain a credible reference for their next job and to save face.

You said it. Bill Curry was not about to be fired, it was his decision as to whether he was going to be the coach at Alabama and he did take the easy route as you said and quit after the Sugar Bowl aganst Miami. You also said Fran felt he was going to be fired. For what? That statement alone drops your credibility right down around zero. He had beaten Auburn the year before and only lost to them in his last game against them because he was sneaking around with Texas A&M instead of preparing his team to play a game.

Chris Mortensen Just said we should know by Tuesday On Nick.

Not feeling the greatest right now, but I had to share this. Chris Mortensen just said we should know one way or another by Tuesday at the latest on Nick's decision. NFL Network was saying the Alabama is offering Nick a lot more money then he is making in Miami. We shall see brothers and sisters.

I hope you feel better, John.

If Saban left, I would be more than a little surprised but I wouldn't want him here if his heart was not in the job. The Dolphins are far more important than any one man.

FFIC, feeling a little under the weather? me too. Been sick for the past two days now.

I bet that Wayne and Nick already know what the answer is.
