how exactly do u kno the physical condition of Stacey Mack? I find it hard to believe uve been monorting his work habits, diet etc. over the offseason .

I read it in the ask jason section of the herald on line. do you f-in think i would just say unwarraanted stuff u jackazz?

why sign Mack for short yardage? Konrad/Morris cant be the go to guys in short yardage? Use Henery as a change of pace? I think they would do fine, no need to pick up anyone for this season IMO

This year, I still think that who ever we add as an FA will be purely depth or a short yardage specialist since none of the FAs available at this time are really better than Minor.

As for Edge next year I am curious to see how he holds up this year.

I think it would be better to look at a possible young draft pick first. RBs seem to come on fast in making the transition from college to pros. So, you can get that immediate impact. As long as the rest of the offense performs well (a very huge question), we can put in a rookie at RB who can benefit from an offense surrounding him that has been together for two years in a row.

The only reason and I do mean the ONLY reason that Minor hasn't been a "star" with the Fins already is b/c Wanny can't get past his size to give him enough carries. He was coached all through high school by the same coaches who coached Warrick Dunn. He was coached all through college by the same coaches who coached Warrick Dunn. He's not muc smaller than Dunn and I believe he can get the job done. He has to be given the chance. The question is whether or not he's going to be the starting back or whether the Fins will try to bring in some has-been and give him most of the carries. Minor can do it. I truly believe that.

I think Travis can do it. What has he done to prove he couldnt? remember when the quitter got hurt agaisnt the redskins last year? didnt T.M. perform well enough that the quitter wouldnt have to come back in? I think he will be str8.

Well I don't know how many RB's a team normally carries. Miami used to dress only Minor and Williams from week to week and I think they had Henry on the practice sqaud. Like hime or not, and I don't, Ricky was a workhorse and that is probably why we only dressed 2 RB's per week. I think that we should bring in a forth RB just for depth so we can have 3 on our active roster and 1 on the practice squad. I thing Minor and Morris would give us a nice one two punch that wouldn't cause any Defensive coordinators to lose any sleep or anything but could be serviceable. I don't think there is a free agent available that is so much better than these guys that we need to make a move now and I certainly don't want to trade a 26 year old DE who led the AFC in sacks last year for a second rate RB.

I really think we should stick with Minor and Henry, for a couple reasons. (1) I really think Minor is capable of doing a good job. He has really shown some speed and promise, and I think he deserves the chance to show what he can do.I like Henry for a back-up as well as he will bring a change up to the line-up and I think he can pound more for the short yardage we will need at times (2) Theirs nothing out their much this year to begin with, and what their is left, teams think we are desperate, and reports are that they are already holding a gun to our head in trying to make deals now. (3) We give Minor/Henry their chance this year, and if they dont work out, we start looking for another feature back in the offseason for next year. Then we will have more options, and not be held at gunpoint to begin with. Just my thoughts guys and gals......

Have you seen Henry? I know he isnt Ricky but he isnt henry, he is bigger, as in bigger legs. He may not be stephen Jackson, but he does have more inside power than Minor or T Henry. From what I saw in Europe he can run with some power, not Ricky power but some power, he isnt a finesse runner.

I also read Mack came in overweight/out of shape. I like the combo of minor Henry and Morris, altho Morris is also going to have to back up Konrad as well unless we sign another FB.

I dont think its fair to Travis to not give him a chance. He's been here 3 years, his rookie year he was behind Lamar Smith, then we brought in Ricky so he didnt get a shot then. So now that hes had a chance to learn the system, he will be better off! At least bringing in a new back they have to learn the system and get aquainted with our line which in some cases can take at least a season. Travis will be our man and he will surprise many!!!! Why wait for a feature back in '05, he will be our feature back in '05!!!

I'd like to stick with Minor and let Henry or Russell spell him or be 3rd down backs. That is just wishful thinking. It simply will not work in our current scheme. The Norv Turner scheme requires that you pound the ball to open up the passing game. That is what Wanny is sticking with this season, and it is too late to install another scheme. I also believe that Wanny is inflexible and will end up sticking Minor in there, or Mack or whomever and run them straight into 8 defenders on 7 out of 10 plays.

I think what you guys are wanting is to use Minor in a slightly different role as Ricky's. Use him like Buffalo did Travis Henry...Lots of runs around the corners and swing passes against man coverage (like the Jets and Bills shredded us with,) and lots of quick passes against zone. A few runs up the middle to keep them honest, but basically new playcalling.

I doubt we'll see it. It just isn't in Wanny's philosophy to change his gameplan to suit his personnel. We'll see the same plays and all we can hope for is that Feely can finally connect on the few longballs that are called.

Actually, the Norv Turner is based on the same principals as the Ram's system. They both originate from the same place (original west coast O). Turner just emphasized the run more b/c of his days under John Robinson.

I'm worried about Wanny too. He said the O would only be tweaked. But, nobody knows what the hell that means. I'd love for Wanny to watch a tape of Miami's playoff game with Seattle. Our passing game was a joke. Marino was a shadow of his former self. Everybody remembers the highlights, but for most of the game he was inept. Our running backs were Autry Denson and JJ Johnson. At best, these guys would be poor imitations of Minor and Henry. Yet they won that game b/c of an incredible pass rush (and overall D), good special teams (although they did give up a TD) and great play calling. This was with Kippy Brown calling the plays! They used 3-wide sets. Hit the fullback underneath a ton. And mixed in a great deal of running plays (b/c Marino was so off target). Denson did most of the damage, but JJJ was effective on short yardage (even had the game winning TD). I believe Wanny was an assistant here at that time ( I can't remember if he started that year or the next), but either way JJ was hardly an offensive innovator, so it's not a stretch to think that Wanny could "tweak" the O the same way JJ did when Marino was on his last legs (67 QBR that season). In fact JJ has admitted on several occasions that he doesn't know as much about the x and o as Wanny does.

This team should be at least that good. That year was just a tooth and claw your way the best you can kind of year. The defense really came on and was the lifeforce of the team that season. They were dismantled a week later by the Jags as most remember.

But yeah I'm sure that is why NFL network has been showing games from 99/00 because it does seem to be the kind of situation we can expect this year. I think that this team could be better than the '99 team. We are way deep at CB a lot like that year. If we can sign OGUN (big if) and he and Taylor stay healthy and the LBs are healthy we should be impossible to pass on. I look forward to seeing what we can do from a pass protection standpoint. This D-Fence makes me drool at possibilities. If Bua improves he can contribute at least at spec teams.

I am a little excited. There are big questions. The entire offense is suspect but there are possibilites. Thats why they play the games.
