Yeah!!!! Can't wait to see how the kid performs against the 1s.
Beat me to it...... :
and so it begins my friends....hot damn!!!
your week 1 starting qb ryan tannehill...
Great. Will be cool, but still can't read too much into it yet, as he will be facing another team's 1's for the first time. Glad they are giving him the experience. I bet he looks good though.
Hope he performs well
Alright Miami!!! it's on like pop pop pop corn ....
It will be interesting, while Carolina didn't have a good defense last year Tanny is gonna be going up against Charles Johnson, Jon Beason, Luke Kuechley, Thomas Davis, and Chris Gamble plus 2 solid safeties in Charles Godfrey and Sherrod Martin.
awesome.... I am about to get in the car to make the drive and this makes it even better
my understanding is beason is out...this comps a wrap people...
If Tannehill is the week 1 starter i'm going to go wild @ the Jets game in Miami. Tannehill jerseys for me and the missus!!!
My head is seriously hurting from the number of correct decisions I've seen this franchise make since hiring Philbin.
I don't even know what to think right now.
Time to start a "what color Tannehill jersey am i gonna get?" thread!!!!!! WHOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO
If Beason is out it means James Anderson starts. TEs are gonna have fun tonight.
Oh and this will be a good game to get the RBs some confidence. Carolina's top DTs are Ron Edwards, Terrell McClain, Sione Pua, and Andre Neblett. But you'll also see the guy we drafted before Jimmy Wilson; Frank Kearse.
As for Carolina, I'm rooting for my boy Ryan Van Bergan to make the team
just dance...i'm moon walking at work...
Hopefully he plays the whole first half. Not just a few snaps like other 1's.
Wooot! Anxious to see him run the hurry-up vs some starters.
Ben Volin says 25- to 30 snaps...
Btw, this pretty much ends Garrards career.
Can't crown him as the opening day starter yet. He can't afford to fall on his face against Carolina tonight. I'll count my chickens after tonights game. That said it's ****in hard not to get excited about tonight!
U read my mind.... Was just thinking i hope he plays alot because it would suck if he came out had 2 drives and then Moore plays like 2 whole quarters. Would almost rather see him play with the 2's and 3's if it means more time for him on the field. Man i hope he wins the job.
Does Tannehill starting = less playing time? If so, color me disappointed.
i'm crowning him...you guys can wait as long as you want...he got run with the 1's all week and reports were looked solid...week 1 starter...lock it up
Depends on how long the starters are out and how he looks. It sounds like more teams are using this 2nd game as dress rehearsal for the season.
I agree. He needs to start every game...take off the training wheels.
Kinda hope he gets a few more then that ... maybe like 35-40 snaps. I guess it depends on how the drives go... if its alot of 3 and outs he may play more if he drives us to a TD and FG in 2 out of the first 3 drives he will be done for the night.
i'm sure he'll get a quarter and a half or so...somewhere in there...maybe a half if they want to get a longer look...
25-30 snaps is a half. I'd be good seeing him play the first half. Let Moore come in and put the nail in his former team's coffin during the second half.
unless he completely lays an egg against the Panthers, I think it's safe to say Tanny has won the job. Nothing against Matt Moore cause I do like him, but there are things that hurt Moore.
1.There are throws he can't make
2.He takes forever to go through his progressions. There were SO many plays last year that either weren't made or weren't as big as they could have been because Moore didn't look for them. I'll aways mention the first Jets game last year, the drive that ended in a Revis Pick-6 the play before the pick, Lex Hilliard is WIDE OPEN jumping up and down calling for the ball and Moore doesn't look his way, and on the pick, Clay was wide open running towards the endzone and Moore tried to force it to Marshall.
Moore to me is kind of like a Billy Volek or AJ Feely. He's a great backup, and when your starter is hurt he can keep the team competitive. BUT when you expect him to be a regular starter, he's not gonna be as good.
I would think not.
I would expect him to get the entire first half IF he comes out and plays well early.
If he comes out and plays well, and goes the entire first half without making any major mistakes, this QB battle is OVER.
Let's not get carried away guys. If coach has decided Moore will start opening day this is the PERFECT opportunity to let Ryan play against the 1's of another team. Next weeks game most of our starters will play well into the game. That will be the dress rehearsal for Houston. Ryan will get work tonight and in the last preseason game.
Having said that if the kid looks great this may be his best chance to EARN the starting spot.
I'm in no big hurry to push the chick out of the nest but if he SMOKES Carolina and plays well the other two games go for it.
I'm all for Tanny playing the whole first half.
I think 40 snaps is close to 3 Quarters?
Damn it Hoops, I probably just lost my chance at the signed Jersey by TakeoSPikesNeck but goddamn I don't even care because Tannehill has done nothing be make me smile this pre season.
I hope he starts week 1 and I hope he has a great game tonight.
I know we need to be patient but it's hard not to get excited about this.
Awesome. Knock 'em dead Ryan.
:brewskis:Raise of hands for those of us that will get nothing done at work today?
YEAH!!!!!!! :hump::hump::emjai: :emjai:
4 his sakes I hope he does well or the sky will be falling and plenty of useless threads will be started.lol
Great news ! Finally get to see him with the 1s. Poor Matt
Ok, time get get serious about this. Pressure is on the rookie for sure now. He needs to score against the Panthers top D, can't be having drives stalling on the 20. He needs to show he can finish drives and make some plays for this offense. If he does, he's got the team's support and guys will fall in line.
Go get 'em, kid. Let's see what you got.
Oh snap!!! Well thank the football gods I have a recording device.
the kids gonna make mistakes...we just have to accept it...matt moore makes plenty of mistakes...the thing with tannehill though is i want to see his mistakes become learning tools...when he throws a pick 6 on an out which will happen he learns what he did wrong when he stares down a target and a safety undercuts the route for an int learn from it...show me growth...i don't need the kid to be an all pro in year one...just show that you have a future that we should build around...i'll be happy
I hope we see a lot of Fasano and Clay tonight, I really want this kid to build up a relationship with these guys. Will make his Rookie season much easier.
He has to score on the opening drive. If he does it will lock it up for sure.
Ryan Tannehill was criticized in college for how he handled high pressure moments.
This is a high pressure moment. If he plays well, essentially the job is his. If he doesn't, it might be all the excuse the coaches need to shelf him for the more experienced guy. And, it will be all the excuse the people that criticized his handling of big moments in college need to say that he still crumbles under the strain of high pressure situations.
It will be an interesting game.
so what's a realistic expectation? between 15-20 TDs and similar INTs? I think it's something to build on, but passing TDs are gonna be hard to come by at times.
people's choice. let's go People's Choice.
