Tight Ends Group Pay Attention

This is Nalbone's second camp... and he still can't simply catch the football when it's thrown to him...

Kyle Rudolph, Luke Stocker, Wesley Saunders, George Bryan, D.J. Williams, Charlie Gantt.... all these guys are upgrades over the slop behind Fasano...

I thought last year our Te's did a pretty good job..The only thing is they pretty much had to be wide open to get the ball thrown to them...

It was very rare to see them out running someone behind them..I do remember Fasano making a few plays while not being wide open..

He did have some costly drops and looked god awful in that ATL game..

Haynos was not that bad after he caught the ball..but again was pretty much wide open in a voided zone or broken coverage...

I think we def need someone who can make some plays down the field in that postion..David Martin was that guy..Too bad he got hurt last year and was old..

I really wanna see what Nalbone has to offer..but last year he could not hold onto the ball..

after fasano there's nothin - and he even lost his mind last year. the other guys on the roster are more or less the B movie versions of him - which shouldn't be the case. those guys should be threats in the passing game.

i so badly wish we would've drafted a TE in this past draft,it was a deep TE class imo...

I would like to see what Nalbone has to offer. I really don't think Haynos offers anything at the position and Sperry looked alright at times but he's small.

Haynos, other than height, is unimpressive. Sperry is more of a H-back/TE that you can motion alot.

I still...I mean, I'd kill to have grabbed Dennis Pitta in the mid rounds right about now.

I wil reiterate. Pitta is a one trick pony and not as good as Harline or Coats who played collegiately with John Beck.

I don't think we can write-off our young TEs just yet. Last year we had to do a lot of adjusting at the TE position when Pennington was injured. I do truly think that our group may be capable of more than people are perceiving. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Based on what exactly? What do you think they're capable of?

Fasano is best suited as a #2 TE that's forced to be a #1 TE on this team.... We've seen that happen in Miami way too many times over the years at the WR/TE position (Chambers, Ginnger, McMichael, etc.)

Nalbone can't catch... and was only the second player EVER drafted from Monmouth... A year ago he was a 5th round project that couldn't catch the football... today he's still a 5th round project that can't catch the football...

Haynos is an undrafted free agent that's too tall, too clumsy, too slow, and no upside.... a slug with arms and legs (as one poster put it)...

Sperry is probably the guy I like best here... he has the most upside... but is still a #3 TE on a team that's winning...

Basically all of these guys would already be gone most anywhere else.... they're just bodies.... and are only here because some of them can actually provide slight resistance against a defender when it comes to blocking... that's it..

It's the worst group of TE's in the league as a group... just like Miami's LB's were last year...

I think it's one of the first positions they'll address next year...there's just no talent here...

“We’re really close,” said Sperry, who said he no longer has to worry about the rookie jitters. “As soon as one’s in there we all watch to see what happens. When he comes out we have corrections and if he did good we’re always positive. It’s real nice and almost feels like a family in the tight end room.”

I never knew families got together at the gay bar......J/k

yeah nalbone still can't catch the ball...we just need a te complete overhaul...if you keep fasano as the primary blocking te fine but get a fluid mismatch with some rac abilities like kyle rudoph in the draft and then think of how much more potent this offense will be...instantly

And I will reiterate, I believe you're wrong. And yes, I've studied the guy, including getting a close up first hand view of him all week during East-West Shrine practices, where I talked to the man, AND I spoke with the man who coached him all week. I've studied many games of his, and I compiled a lot of information on the guy. I understand you feel you've had some exposure to him since you're a Ute fan, and everyone has a right to their own opinion. But I'm not coming at this as some joe schmoe off the street that head Todd McShay say something on air and decided he liked a guy.

I can imagine there being a worst group out there. But not very many.

I actually liked the group when David Martin and Anthony Fasano worked together.

speaking of pitta i've heard that the ravens have been impressed with him this camp...players have spoken of how fluid he is and his soft hands...crafty...sneaky quick

I can imagine. And the folks that think he's a poor blocker and will always be a poor blocker, are going to be surprised.

Yea I was really surprised we didn't draft a tight end in the 3rd-5th round. I'd feel a lot better with a pass catching specialist to compliment Fasano's blocking ability. A guy like Dennis Pitta, Jimmy Graham or Garrett Graham would of been nice. Would of loved to have gotten Anthony McCoy or Dorin Dickerson in the 6th-7th as well. I do expect TE to be near the top of the list next year. A guy like Kyle Rudolph could give us one of the most complete offenses in the NFL.
