Tuna Turd Parcells elected to Hall of Fame

Ogden on the first ballot surprised me. Very consistent but I assumed they'd make him wait a few years.

Sapp was incredibly disruptive in his prime. In those games against Favre, Sapp was so frantic and energized it was like a different species. And he did it at a spot where it's extremely difficult to dominate via the pass rush, with so many double teams and an occasional triple team. The outside guys have a considerably easier time. Haley wasn't in Sapp's league.

I love how Parcells is dismissed as yesterday's NFL. Meanwhile, during that same time period we were stupid enough to put together a team better suited to Tutu Goodell's NFL. An unforced error if there ever was one. If Parcells had emulated Shula in the '80s and built a pantyhose passing team he never would have sniffed the playoffs in the brutal NFC.

Two Super Bowl wins in that time frame was certainly worthy of Hall of Fame. Particularly the way he accomplished it, patiently moving up the ladder for the first one, and then overcoming an injury to his starting quarterback for the second one, winning the NFL Championship Game on the road as underdog against two-time defending San Francisco, quarterbacked by perhaps the greatest player ever at the position, and following it up by defeating Buffalo as a 7.5 point underdog. That was the best of the four Bills teams, and they were yet to be shellshocked and fragile.

Parcells definitely deserves to be in the Hall of Fame for his work with the Giants alone. Had he never returned to the game post-Super Bowl XXV, he'd have been in the Hall long ago.

For his work with the Dolphins, however, he deserved to be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail.

Ogden is the type of player that should have been waiting about half a decade before getting in. Seriously. He's Hall of Fame material but not first ballot. Come on now.

Not true. Ogden was a 10 time pro bowler and dominated at his position. Just because he wasn't vocal or danced around (like Ray Lewis) doesn't mean he wasn't dominant. He was always left on island without help and as a result, his body of work often gets taken for granted. He also played at a high level for many yrs. That is also taken into account.

Haley is a better candidate than anyone who got in.

Parcells was a great coach for the NY Giants and defensive coordinator prior to head coach. His super bowl teams had some great players. As far as coaches go, his enshrinement just lowered the bar enough for a lot of mediocre coaches to now get into the HOF. Sad and pathetic. IMHO.

The selection committees continued ignorance of Bob Kuechenberg, who routinely won battles against current HOF'ers of his era, all-pro and all-NFL honors as well as the super bowl victories and perfect season, just shows that some of these selections are less deserved. Sorry for the homer rant.
