WVDolphan's Get Real - Today's subject "Noodle on THIS!!!"

What else do you need to see from Matt Ryan? leadership. check. grit. check. respect of his team mates in his 3rd season. check. ability to make plays and throws with the game on the line. check. almsot unbeatable at home. check. If you need a "few" more season to know what Ryan is, Hugo I dont know what to tell you my man.....

On a side note, Hugo, Ive relayed your self proclaimed poker skills to Bumpus. Without discussing it with him further, I feel like I can speak for him as well and say that anytime youre up here around WV for anything, feel free to stop by Wheeling Island(aka Donkey Island) or Mardi Gras casino outside of Charleston, bring your money, and have a seat. Just let us know in advance. In the event you go to Wheeling Island, where Bumpus plays, I will make the drive. If you come to Charleston, where I play, I will make the much shorter drive as I normally do, and Im sure Bumpus wont mind making the trek down from Wheeling. Just bring your money.

He needs to see him win a playoff game before he can be sure he can win a playoff game.

He needs to see him get to a Super Bowl before he can be sure he can get to a SB.

He needs to see him win a SB before he can be sure he can win a SB.

Basically, he needs to see something happen before he can feel confident in suggesting it will. How in the hell does this guy play poker with any confidence? Hugo, do you ask to see your opponents cards as well as ask the dealer to tell you what is coming on the turn and river before you decide to put your money in?

I don't get out there too often, but when I do, I'll definitely reach out.

P.S. Bring my money, I mean your money.

ROFL. You read my f'ing mind. This dude plays poker? "Hey man, what do you have? I need to know whether to bet or not. I need to know the results before I committ."

I'll deal with WV's response in a second...

You're sort of backtracking on our agree upon criteria for the "franchise QB" label. Didn't we agree that there are only a handful of those guys in the league and that part of the criteria is actual Pro Bowl level production in the regular season and recurring success in the playoffs?

Based on that criteria, Flacco is closer to earning the franchise QB label than Ryan (neither have put up monster numbers yet in their careers, but at least Flacco has two successful postseasons under his belt).

You also have some weird habit of ignoring what I write. I just said that Ryan looks like a franchise QB in the making. He's not there based on our agree-upon criteria (i.e. not at the level of Manning, Brady, Rivers, Brees, Roethlisberger yet) but he's a notch below.

If you want to talk poker, I suggest that you sign up over at the 2+2 forums. Then I'll be happy to hear you expound on your vast knowledge on that topic. If not, I suggest that you list your winnings in Vegas and Atlantic City or how many tourney's you've cashed out of in those two venues (I'm in the + in AC and a little down in Vegas, with one top 3 finish in a tourney in Vegas). I also be happy to play with you on Bodog anytime (my username is hugoguzman).

If I'm not mistaken, when push came to shove, you did not put Ryan in the upper echelon of current NFL QBs (i.e. franchise guys). You put him in the second tier. Yet somehow, when I do it, and give what appear to be very valid reasons (no big-time production in the regular season yet and no postseason success yet) there's something wrong with my point of view.

As I've always told you clique guys. I keep coming back and mixing it up with you because I get such joy and laughter from some of your posts (like the one I quoted above).

So by your criteria Dan Marino wasn't a franchise QB? After all he never won a superbowl!

Rivers has little playoff success, so the playoff thing I dont agree with. I stated a franchise qb is a guy who on any given Sunday can pull games out you have no business winning. A qb who's performance can overcome obvious team deficiencies. I considered Peyton Manning a franchise qb long before his SB win. I think most would. I agree Matt Ryan isnt quite there yet. But barring a major setback where he just forgets how to play the position, pretty clear where hes heading. We can agree on that.

Excuse me sir, do you have pocket rockets?

What?

Sir, are you holding aces?

F off.

Sir, I need to know all unknown equations before I committ to a decision.

Marino put up huge numbers year in and year out and he had sustained playoff success (reaching a Super Bowl, reaching an AFC championship game, etc).

It's always a good idea to read thoroughly before you right an out-of-context, tunnel vision post like this one.

The first rule of poker is that you don't play the cards, you play the opponent.

Like I told WV, if we do ever play poker together, make sure to bring my money (I mean "your" money)

I dont play poker as much as I used to. Betting on pro sports keeps me pretty busy.

Discuss poker strategy with you? Please. I get fed up enough discussing football with you. Why the hell would I want to put myself through that?

I already am registered on 2 plus 2, but I never go there. I can actually play poker, so I dont care to discuss strategy about it on a message board. I cant play QB for the phins, nor can I run the team, so discussing it and debating strategies is the best I can do.

I signed up before I went to Vegas, just to get scoops on the better spots to play and what kinds of games are offered at which places. Waste of my time though because I stayed at the Rio during WSOP in June. Everything I wanted was right there. I played a bunch of 5-5-10 pot limit omaha. Thats my game.

I dont mind discussing the mainstream players on the forums. However, I dont watch much on tv anymore because 90% of the players are total douches these days. I dont play big games online anymore either since the casino opened about an hour from my home.
