Merged: Ronnie Brown/Can He Carry the Load?

I don't know if Ronnie is better than Ricky. Ricky has experiance and a natural talent. Ronnie has youth and natural talent. Ricky was able to find holes better....But I would assume with maturity in the league Ronnie will be able to slow the game down and make the cutbacks that will give him bigger runs. They are both good recievers....Ronnie is a better blocker..He's faster, bigger, stronger...Whew it's getting close....2gether they make the most dangerous combo in the NFL. The most potential atleast.

The answer is clearly....NO. Why would Ricky be traded? He helps us win now. Saban is all about value, there's no better value in the NFL than Ricky Williams. This post is different than others I've read, because I don't care about what ifs and such.

We are a better team with Ricky Williams than we will be with a 2nd or 3rd rounder. Not to mention, Denver will be competing for the AFC championship. Don't get too greedy. I've seen a ton of posts on here talking about how C-Pep was our 2nd round pick. I'm happy with him as our 2nd rounder in the 2006 draft.

Wake up people, Ricky will be a Dolphin in 2006.

omg thankyou ricky is the man he is so good for the dolphins and IS better than ronnie and i just cant believe people want to trade him away and for a 2nd or 3rd round pick that is ridiculous ricky is awesome great post these lets trade ricky and ronnie is so much better than ricky posts of late have had me fuming

Not to say I don't think Ronnie is an outstanding football player, but as of April 25, 2006, Ricky is better. Next year, halfway through the season, who knows. No what if this, what if that...I don't even think it's an issue with Saban if Ricky wins his appeal. He stays a Dolphin.

saban is all about BPA and Ricky is without a doubt more valuable than any pick we could get right now... multiple picks id think about it

I would have to say from a physical standpoint, No as of right now, but that can change into Ronnies favor this year.

From a Mental, Disciplineary and leadership standpoint, Ronnie is much better of a player. The guy is a natural leader and excudes confidence one the field. Not a mental handicapp out there like ricky.

In the long run if Ronnie stays healthy, he will be twice the contibuter to the Dolphin orginazation due to his leadership skills and on field performaces. Ricky is a mental handicap that has to be spoon fed and WILL DO SOMETHING CRAZY AGAIN! HE HASN'T STOPPED YET!

Look at it this way. if we were to trade Ricky or Ronnie, who do think we would get a first rounder for, HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM NOT RICKY! WHY BECAUSE HE FREGGIN OUT OF HIS MIND. Trade him now if we can get a second rounder for him and let another team deal with his bul****.
So from my point of view I would rather have RONNIE BROWN!.

I agree with these statements. I personally think Ronnie will be better than ricky this season. I will not be liked for this statement but I call them the way I see them and I saw (last season and before) ricky not finish plays and I saw him run out of bounds like there was no tomorrow. I read a week ago he has lost weight yet again. If not getting flattened by a cornerback wasn't humiliating enough. Ricky's head is not in the right place. I say trade him if possible, especially if multiple picks are involved. A 2nd and another pick and I would jump all over it.

No doubt Ricky is in the Decline of his career. I'd say in their current conditions, Ricky doing Yoga and Ronnie pumping weights, that Ronnie will out produce Ricky.

His hands are better and he is a better blocker....and with one more year in the league I think he will be every bit the runner ricky was..........which means ADVANTAGE Brown

You know when these "Professionals" the GM's and coaches of the NFL evauate talent in the draft the don't just look at speed jumping, weight and physical aspects of the player. They also look at CHARACTER. All things being equal on the physical side between Ricky and Ronnie IMO - Ricky is more experienced and Ronnie is younger. That's a wash but when you look at Character it's a no brainer, RONNIE RONNIE RONNIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to me it doesn't even matter... next year ronnie is going to be the feature back, hes got the contract and the status and its his time to do that... dont forget its also a business and you dont waste that money on a guy who you are not going to play...

ronnie will be the starter next year, and ricky will be the backup... ricky will be a 10 carry per game guy... thats it...

you can say ricky is the greatest back in the league right now, but that wouldn't matter, to our team hes a 10 carry a game backup, and trading a 10 carry a game backup for a 2nd round pick is a no brainer... passing up a 2nd round pick for a backup running back is a wanny-esqu move...

are u guys out of your minds? ricky put up similar stats to what ronnie put up and ricky missed the first 4 games! ronnie only missed 2. if u loko at their stature and everything, ronnie is just a younger version of ricky all he needs is guidance. we should keep ricky for atleast another year, save up on cap space and it will be easier for pep if we 2 running backs with over 1000 yards each this season...

I take Ronnie Brown over Ricky Williams in a heartbeat.

1. Ronnie is 24, Ricky is 29 in May.
2. Ronnie loves the game of football, Ricky loves to pay the bills.
3. Ronnie has the most uncanny natural power of any back I have ever seen. Ricky's power is declining. Just ask Asante Samuel.
4. Ronnie has one of the most natural pair of hands I have ever seen out of a big back.
5. Ronnie and Ricky have outstanding acceleration, yet Ronnie is much larger and more powerful.
6. Ronnie and Ricky have superb speed, yet Ronnie is larger and more powerful.
7. Ronnie changes direction with ease.

The question becomes: What is two years of Ricky Williams worth? Because don't kid yourselves, he is out when his contract runs out.

If we can get a 2nd round pick from a short sighted team who feels they are a running back away, we take it. In heartbeat. That second round pick has more value to the Miami Dolphins than two years of Ricky Williams playing behind Ronnie Brown.

I find it funny that some of the members of this board wish to dismiss Ricky so quick in favor of Ronnie. Granted, RB is the future and will be a premier
back in the NFL, but at this point we need two good backs. RW needs to
be here to teach RB the finer points of the game from a physical point of
view. It just seems to be a bandwagon type of attitude here against RW,
if we knew for sure that he was going to win his appeal and be able to play,
most of you would be cheering him on. Since it is uncertain, your just saying
trade him, get rid of him. I find this ridiculous. I also have to disagree with
one poster saying RW doesn't play hard. I can't recall one play where he
doesn't give it his all. You can bash his drug use, but you can deny he is
a great back when playing. I feel we need the Ricky/ Ronnie combo for one
more year, till Ronnie is ready to take the lead back role.
