O-line And Run Defense Are A Big Problem.

Last year and 2016 the roster was much more pathetic so we can move forward and win not all is lost.

Defensive tackles are better this year, linebackers are better, secondary is better and yes the defensive ends.

Tight ends, QB are better and the wide recievers as a whole should be equal. Offensive tackles are as good or better. Running backs as a group are probably equal. Interior line is the biggest issue and really is marginal less.

We need the new oline coach to really step up at this point.

That Charles Harris pick looks worse every week. That guy brings nothing to the table.

Ya he could end up being a bust. And as much as I like Fitzpatrick, Derwin James might have been the better pick. He was all over the field for the Chargers today.

Thank you, Danny for a rational post. OL has been a weakness for as long as RT has been here. I place this loss largely on them and a poor game plan today.

When NE consistently puts in 7 DB’s, you run the ball, and you do it with Frank Gore. Gore is the kind of back that puts the pain to the little guys, not the shiftier Drake, who is much easier to bring down. Gore should have had a much higher number of carries than Drake based on the defense, but unfortunately, it doesn’t matter when the runner is always receiving contact behind the LOS. When there are no holes to run through, that’s on the OL, not the backs.

In the pass game, the OL provided a messy pocket forcing some early throws from Tannehill and no real gaps for him to scramble either. Still, they could have been much more successful had the gameplan actually adjusted to the coverage. The WRs with all their speed couldn’t come open under press coverage and complete their routes, but we never schemed around it. Why not use Drake in the flat instead of ramming him into his OL’s backs? How about anything across the middle of the field? I feel Gase never adjusted to what the defense was giving and insisted on trying to out-execute the Patriots instead. If they did this later in the game, the adjustment was to late, but I could not see it, as the game had been taken off the network.

The defense disappointed in the run game and tackling, but I give them a bit of a pass for today due to some really bad calls and the offense’s complete inability to produce anything positive. You can’t ask the defense to stay on the field with no help all day.

In 2016 we could actually run the ball... This year, not so much. Tunsil and James are not the problem, the interior of the o-line is where the problem is.

How quickly things turn. Just last week we're raving about "Nascar on turf" and a week later we need an upgrade?

Who's we? Our WRs made plays in the passing game in name only those were glorified runs.

Oh I agree

the defense got a raw deal today. Part of that was our offense but part if the defense too. Really, they have not tackle well all season so far and like I said, they miss Hayes.
Watched the game again, and overall there were some decent parts. Our pass D was actually pretty good - when Wake and Quinn were rushing, most of the time at least one of them got pressure, and that led to Inc's and Int's. But bad penalties, bad coverages and bad tackling led to the big plays that killed us.

Our run D was actually ok too about half the time. Our DT's alternated between stout and sieve-like, LB's likewise. Woodard, Wake and Quinn all set the edge well - the big problem at DE was Harris - on 3 or 4 plays he was sealed and that led to some big runs on his side.

That's why I think NE could somehow predict plays. At the snap the NE DBs were often headed toward the ball. There were 4-5 Pats around each screen. Maybe not every time, but often. And I agree, passing against 6 DBs on 2nd and 5?

7 catches 86 yards and 1 TD through 4 games with our better TEs.

In the last 2 games Drakes production has gone to zero.

LB play if better, has a long way to go.

DTs yesterday returned to preseason form. And that isnt a good thing.

Not to mention none of our WRs can get open if its not a screen or a bomb. Need to upgrade WRs badly.

According to Gase Grant and Amendola were open all day - Ryan just didn’t see them. Tannehill looked like a totally different player than he was first three weeks. He looked Timid and scared.

the problem is the same stuff last year. our offense isn't sustaining drives early in the year. We are behind the sticks almost every drive. We can tie this into not using the whole field. Is there not a middle of the field in the NFL? because we play like it.

This is going to kill the defense like last year. they are going to get sloppy and over compensate for a bad offense, trying to do much. Then the fatigue and injuries happen and it's another wash of a year.

I'm concerned on a genuine level because these are mistakes that should have been corrected and they are popping up again. All we are missing is the " Yes up Gase" press conference

No run game makes the entire team more one dimensional, same thing occured under Dan Marino and RT is not Dan so there you are. We just faced 2 desperate teams with the raiders. Both teams and ours came out with multiple injuries because of the intensity. We have holes but they are smaller.
