Would We Have Made Playoffs With L Jackson

The Ravens barely made it in with the NFL's best defense and a coaching staff that didn't quit on the team in the midst of swirling dysfunction. Going to say, "No."

Just read an article referencing Balt making playoffs with him and it referenced Ross suggesting a trade back to grab him in the draft.

This got me thinking , same team, same coach, if LJ played those last 3 would we have gotten wc?
The defense was horrible so, no

Child please LOL we weren’t Making the Playoffs no way no how, this Years Team was straight garbage.

I would say… maybe. The one thing that remains a mystery is how bad is Ryan Tannehill. Gase called plays and game planned as if he wasn’t very good. So has all the other coaches that knew him. Maybe Gase knows more than we gave him credit for. Maybe it was Tannehill’s limitations that dictated everything Gase did. Maybe Jackson is quite a bit better than we know Tannehill to be. A quarterback can make that much difference. Jackson is a rookie playing in the playoffs, he’s pretty good. His press talks are scary, he seems like an uneducated inarticulate rough guy. I hope he is great and is fun to watch for many years, I was all for dropping down, adding a pick and taking him.

Not likely, but Miami would have been more entertaining to watch.

No. It can be argued that Jackson is better than Tannehill but not significantly better. Our coaching was horrible and we would have to assume that they would've been able to gameplan and put Jackson in positions to be successful.

I don't think so. I also don't think he's better than Tannehill.

Revisionists are only saying Lamar Jackson was the target because of some shoddy reporting from our beat writers. Ross was only asking the trio why we were not trading down with the saints who were offering an extra 1st. There is nothing that says we were 100 percent getting Jackson because of Ross.

During the year the ravens benefited from a very soft schedule down the stretch. Some favorable matchup against opposing run d and the number 2 defense allowed Baltimore to stockpile wins. In fact before that stretch their run game had been non existent. Jackson did well with what was asked of him.

It is interesting to see how Baltimore handles the next year with him. Teams will notice they were running only to the moddle/right end of the fields. They won't catch teams by surprise with those plays next year. their year will depend on Jackson's development as a passer

Just the last three games? It's quite possible that we would have done better than we did with an injured Tannehill, but Tannehill had just had two pretty good games against the Bills and Pats, so why would Gase have suddenly decided to bring in Jackson? Even if we had Jackson (and I'm tankful that we don't) he wouldn't have seen any action in those last three games.

This thread is funny. All year (and the last several, really), Tannehill has been relentlessy bashed as a mediocre or terrible QB, and now some are dreaming of what the team would have looked like with a new mediocre to worse QB.

The NFL rules are geared toward passing offense. Jackson is a far worse passer than RT at this stage in his career. He is a run first, throw second kind of player and will flame out quickly unless he gets that part of his game fixed by next season. RT was at least a pass first run second QB. Ironically, RT had a lot of leg and run talent, and one of the great mysteries for me will always be who or what took that part of his game away.

If Ross really wanted Jackson, that is all the proof needed that he needs to stay far away from all football decisions. As to Harbaugh signing an extension and being smarter, that isn’t an endorsement of Jackson. He knows full well it will be sink or swim and he could very well have a shot at another number one pick next year, or Lawrence in two.
