Haskins

Haskins was so good that OSU was thinking of starting another QB this year, hence why he came out with only 1 year of starting experience.

If Haskins had 2-3 years of starting experience with roughly the same results maybe we take him at 13. But he didnt.

We made a smart choice.
That's the concern. One year wonder or franchise QB???

This is a lazy argument, at best. Every team passes on hall of fame players all the time. Every team has their share of draft busts. Every team has a fan base that thinks they know better than the front office and will second guess every draft pick. Why don't you just throw out "New England" would do better for every argument like everyone does around here? Because you would be wrong with their draft history over the past few years perhaps?
No... I gave my thoughts. What you posted was lazy...saying everyone does what we did is a useless response. I said nothing at all about drafting busts... and I don’t care what other teams do. I’m a dolphin fan, and that’s who I care about. I simply said draft a QB until you get a good one. And gave a couple examples of QBs we passed on that are still performing at a high level for their respective teams.

You guys sure have a lot of faith in our organization. "He wasn't their guy" "Have faith in the process" "It's part of the plan".

Blah, blah, blah. Grier has been GM since 2016 and prior to that, he was Director of Scounting from 2007-2015. He scouted Chalres Harris, Dallas Thomas, Jonathan Martin, DVP, and Dion Jordan and he stood by Tanny for the past couple years.

Sorry, I'm not onboard with simply hoping that we get a high pick next year with the assumption that the QB class is better. We had someone fall in our lap that had a 70% completion rate and threw 50 TDs. You have to take a chance on that guy. Plain and simple.

Ryan Leaf, David Klingler, Achile Smith....Seneca Wallace, J.P. Losman.....so first, that kills your ridiculous "take a chance" theory. Plain and simple, you can name drop bad picks, and conveniently forget McMillan, Minkah, Tunsil, Jones, Wake, Landry, etc. Scouting is hit and miss, not hit OR miss.

I'd like to see you crack 100 sunflower seeds without getting some bad ones.

I think building a defense first is the way to go. Look at our record with an average QB for 7 years. Defense wins championships. New England, New Orleans, Seattle....had good offense, but the DEFENSE to win. I challenge you to look at the last 30 SB champs and find more than a few where their defense DID NOT dictate the outcome.

Plain and simple.

We're not the only team that passed on him. What does that say? We got a great player in Wilkins who is a high character guy and very smart and on top of it he's a great leader. I'm very happy we're sticking to the plan.

Dammit Danny! You KNOW that good, sensible moves will raise hell around here. We are used to getting a cure all (that doesn’t) and everybody groans when it doesn’t pan out.

Then, everybody wants to do it again.

In all fairness, fans over the last 20 years are not used to wise, solid picks.

Hence, the bitching....

Only a fool would take a QB coached by Urban Meyer. The only read's their taught is the DE...

Say what you will, but we screwed the pooch for passing on this guy.

Mark my words, we screwed up by signing Fitzpatrick. He is going to play well throwing to Stills, Wilson, Parker, Drake and Gesicki......and he'll likely land us 6 wins and the 13th pick in the draft again. We are going to have to mortgage the farm to move up to get our guy next year.

We could have drafted Haskins and kept every pick for the next 2 years and littered our team with fresh talent. I can't believe he fell to us and we passed. We are going to be kicking ourselves for a decade.

I know we need DL and OL very very badly, but when someone falls in your lap you gotta take him!
Mark my words we didn’t - he was supported by play-makers who scored TDs big whip

In Two years you will be saying big Whip. Byron Leftwich the 2nd

Being 31st against the run doesn’t win either lol. We are in a rebuild, we’ll get OUR QB before the 2020 season.
No what else stops the run? Having a QB that can get you the lead in the game so the other team is passing to try to catch up, lol. We get run on so much because the other team is protecting a lead. We gotta turn that ish around. You don’t do that with a DT.

The super bowl score last year was 13-3 and the year before the better DLine won. Hmm

You just proved my point!!! Those teams that drafted the players you mentioned kept drafting QBs and look who starts for those teams now, lol. Ryan leaf to Philip Rivers. David Klingler and AKILI Smith To the red rifle. Seneca Wallace to Russ Wilson. JP Losman to the kid picked last year. Thanks for your support, lol.

All of these points are mute if we just didn’t think that Haskins was a star QB. That’s a very plausible reason not to take him over a guy we feel will be a future centerpiece for our organization

Tua, Fromm, Love, or Herbert will be the QB for the Finz next year. Gonna be exciting watching all of them this year knowing that. NFL will be rough but there is light at the end of this tunnel. Finally. Tank for Tua. ****ing Engage.

I liked Haskins, and I would have supported him if the team went that direction (not that that mattered), but am very happy with the Wilkins pick. Superb dude, and it follows the theme of building a team from the inside out.

1) Build the lines.
2) Get the QB.
3) Get the complementary pieces.

The Fins already *have* bits of #3.
