2009-2010 Miami Heat Thread: Race to the Finish

Now only if he hit those last 2 FT's of Heat games LOL. Hopefully cooks shooting and wade's great game leads to a +5 game over .500 mark for the second half. Who else thought Lebron was going to get the vote? even though wade owned the game.

I saw LeBron directly behind David Stern during the trophy presentation and I was about to punch the TV.

thats good but back to the Heat, idk if we can but we should do whatever possible to land Amare in Miami. he wants to be here, he said he prefers miami over cleveland. and he would opt out of his contract to sign an extension with miami after this season. thus Wade stays and that is the ultimate key is getting Wade to stay

I also heard it is very likely the Wizards trade Jamison to Miami to get rid of his contract. thats a decent player for us if it happens

Id take Jamison if it was for Khooba and James Jones.. If hes cheap i'd take him if not lets ride the season out.

I find it hard to believe Riles would give up on his '10 free agent dreams for Jamison, unless its part of another '04 blockbuster where Riley swaps out half the roster. It would take a lot more than Jamison to make this team relevant again.

Latest ESPN report...

The Miami Heat have intensified their efforts to trump Cleveland in the chase for Phoenix Suns forward Amare Stoudemire, sources close to the situation said Monday.

The Heat emerged from the All-Star break even more determined than they were before to find a third team to help them broker an Amare deal before Thursday's 3 p.m. deadline.

Miami is "coming hard" after Stoudemire, one source said.

Although the Heat have first-round picks available to sweeten any Stoudemire deal -- with the Suns hoping to come away with at least one first-rounder if they decide to trade Stoudemire this week -- sources say Phoenix has no interest in taking back Jermaine O'Neal's hefty expiring contract because, at $23 million, it requires more players to be worked into the deal than the Suns are comfortable with.

Yet one source insisted Monday night that the Suns have not ruled out taking back forward Michael Beasley as part of a Stoudemire deal. The Heat -- after carefully preserving their salary-cap space for months -- are suddenly pushing hard to make a big trade splash now if possible instead of waiting for free agency in July and gambling on the idea that they can lure a marquee name such as LeBron James or Chris Bosh to South Beach to flank Dwyane Wade.

If they can pull the trade without including Beasley, then I'm all in.

I think that Amare would use his option next year, and I really think we could get a long-term deal done.

Personally, I'd wait until after the season and get Bosh, but you don't know if D-Wade will be tired of Miami by then.

Another little talked about upside to trading Beasley is that you get $5 mil off the books next year. Assuming they cut ties with Jones that leaves a whole $3 mil on the payroll for the Heat next year, with only Cook and Chalmers under contract. Add the 2 mil penalty for Jones, the 17 mil for Wade, and you're left with around 30 mil in space....depending on what the cap number is. Not quite two max contracts but pretty close.

Heat have offered the Suns Richardson, Chalmers, Cook, Wright, and 1st round pick (Raptors pick) for Amar'e

Suns better not trade Stoudemire. I'm a big Suns fan, and would be livid if we traded him. How do all of you Heat fans feal about it? I'd be ecstatic if my team was possibly going to get him, but maybe I'm a little biased.

Amar'e is one of the best offensive centers in the game, I just wish he would play defense once in a while. For his height, he should get more than 8 rebounds a game. He also has a list of injury issues.

All that on the side, I want Amar'e simply because it makes Wade happy. If we can keep Wade here long term while making this team better in the long run, I'm all for it. Getting Amar'e makes us better offensively. The problem is Amar'e doesn't fit into the style team Riley and Co. has preached for the Heat to become the last couple of years. If we trade for Amar'e, there has gotta be some totally new and innovative plays added to the playbook. The whole philosophy of this team would change drastically.
