2009-2010 Miami Heat Thread: Race to the Finish

MRI shows no serious damage

Update, although not much of one.
The Associated Press

MIAMI -- All-Star MVP Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat is no longer in a walking boot and remains listed as day-to-day with a strained left calf.

The star guard underwent tests Sunday that confirmed the injury - sustained last week in a game against New Jersey - is not more severe than first thought.

The Heat said Wade will continue to undergo treatment.

Wade is fifth in the NBA in scoring this season at 26.1 points per game.

Here's a tidbit from the trade deadline talks:

The Heat's best offer included a package of multiple players (Udonis Haslem, Quentin Richardson, Dorell Wright, Mario Chalmers, Daequan Cook were floated); and two No. 1 draft picks, at least one from another team. Not only did the Heat never offer Michael Beasley, but Phoenix wasn't high on him anyway, though other teams inquired. . . . Miami refused Phoenix's plea to take Jason Richardson in the deal. . . . Although Stoudemire's defense is criticized, the Heat believes he would be effective defensively in its system/culture. Miami is high on his list in free agency. . . . Before Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood were dealt from Washington to Dallas, Miami had interest in a deal bringing those two and Stoudemire here. But Phoenix said no. . . . The Heat pursued Utah's Carlos Boozer only to use him to get Stoudemire, not to keep him.

That's pretty interesting.

That does seem to be the consensus....Riley never offered Beasley and they were looking for someone to play along side him (Amare, Bosh) and not in his place (Boozer). Although how much truth is in these reports is always up for debate.

Wow, Heat just lost to the 2nd worst team in the league, and a team who had lost their last consecutive 6.

I think the Heat were playing on determination their first couple of games without Wade, this team really is one of the worst in the league without him.

The team had games like this with Wade. Just never know if they're going to try or not any given night.....

And as per usual. Kobe Bryant: CLUTCH

No excuses when you talk about this player.

By the way, Dorrell Wright was in bounding on the last shot, he was 6-7 from 3 point land with 26 pts for the game. Cook was 0-5. So Spoe runs the play for Cook? What kind of decision is that?

i'd be really surprised if spo was coaching this team next year - teams going to look pretty different next year - from the top down

The Herald said that Riley is sticking around past this summer when his contract expires.

I think Spo could be gone though.

I think Spoelstra is around as long as Riley is in charge. Not much would change with another head coach anyways.....its still Riley's staff and Wade's team.
