The way I see it, the new scheme is the problem. Under the previous Front 7 scheme, Miami was better against the run, and Wake was getting more sacks. All that was needed was an upgraded secondary, and maybe replace Dansby or Burnett. Now, the secondary has improved, but Wake's sacks have gone down and they are no longer dominant against the run.
IMO, the offensive and defensive schemes of the previous regime were better "in theory". Yes, they still needed a new coaching staff, better playcalling, and upgrades at the playmaker positions, but there was no need to bring in someone who wanted a completely opposite offensive and defensive philosophy. So, instead of improving a team that lacked a few playmakers (except for Bush), we now have a team that can't run, can't score in the 4th quarter, and has actually regressed from year one to year two even though "playmakers" were added. This team is not improving under Philbin, Sherman, and Coyle, so don't waste another year on them!
