2013 draft picks

we hear the same thing every year...a draft class needs 3 years to evaluate...with few exceptions they dont bite as pups they don't bite...i'm not talking about lack of opportunity i'm talking about they don't show they can play in this league it rarely changes

yes i know michael egnew made a major change but the end result is a fringe roster tight end with a 3rd round pick career pretty much...that's not getting bang for your draft buck

It is also very position-dependent. I wouldn't expect a running back to take any time to develop...a WR maybe. A DE like Jordan, I damn well expect him to be out there more. Heck, Vernon probably got more time his rookie year than Jordan is getting.

I hate how this coaching staff doesn't play young guys unless they have too. Jordan should be on the field somewhere, every damn down. Dallas Thomas should be playing LG as he should have been in TC not Tackle. Taylor and Davis should be playing ahead of Stanford or Wilson. Sims gets some time but not much. They seem to like to redshirt players. Even last year except they had to play Tannehill and Martin and they weren't going to play Ryan until Garrard got hurt. Vernon got limited snaps as we played Odrick out of position. We've miss used Egnew from the start in trying to have him as an inline TE, they could have been spliting him out wide all year and what he was use too. Miller probably should have gotten more time last year. Matthews is given time last year we may not ahve spent money on Gibson who I like but would have had someone on the team already. Seriously the red shirt thing drives me nuts. They like to grow in the play pen before they let them out into the yard. I think young players learn more in the yard by making mistakes but also being put in the right roles.

A draft class takes time to develop. I think it is more worthy to look at the 2012 draft.

1. Ryan Tannehill...productive pick
2. Jon Martin...next
3a. Olivier Vernon...progressing well
3b. Michael Egnew...not a good pick, but he has contributed
4. Lamar Miller...starting RB with potential to do more
5. Josh Kaddu...PS
6a. B.J. Cunninghmam...nothing
6b. Jonte Green...nothing
7a. Kheeston Randall...nothing
7b. Rishard Matthews...has done a nice job when given a chance. Has potential.

Get back to the 2013 draft next year at this time.

Nothing in 2012 either, Garbage.

How hard should it be right now for Dallas Thomas to get in at guard? Is Jerry and Garner too much competition? In that case, he shouldn't have been drafted.

Taylor should be able to get out there considering Patterson is out every other week. Is it that hard to get past Carroll?

Jordan...why can't he get more snaps? You telling me Vernon and our LB's are that great?

Because Turner and Sherman and Philbin think him as a tackle, which in my mind is just stupid. He has great athleticism for a guard and would look great at LG but his feet for a tackle are crap. We draft players who have one skillset and try to force them to fit the systems skill set. Its dumb really. Egnew playing FB is the perfect example, this kid should be split out wide or in the slot and running out, hooks, slants and using his talent to catch the ball and run instead we have him lead blocking. Testament to him he has done well at this new role but is this a long term assignment? If so, is he going to ahve the most success there? I don't think he will but thats just me. Why no FB screens to him yet.

thomas has to get much stronger and stouter to play guard in the pros...he's soft and fleshy and off balance a lot...but his tackle work this preseason was as BAD AS IT GETS

Well the OP made a good point about how our draft picks can't see the field even when Miami is an average team at best. I could understand if we were Super Bowl contenders. But common with how bad the team is playing we should be seeing our draft picks making the field at least. It's a bad testimony to Ireland IMO.

So basically you're saying our current offensive braintrust is not opportunistic, flexible in their thinking, or creative. Have to agree with you there.

Maybe, but hopefully the talent level has improved overall that it is hard for a rookie to get on the field.

Is that what you think happened? We have such a great team that a rookie can't crack the lineup? Nonsense.

Clearly we need a new dynamic GM. Ireland has been given plenty of time to show that he can draft. He just doesn't do a good enough job. We need a new vision regarding the draft. He has failed. You don't reward failure by giving more chances. I don't even care if we promote Brian Gaines (ass. GM) just move Ireland out.

Somewhat. I think the talent level is above average, but is coached terribly.

I could do better than Ireland. Believe me. The guy is a buffoon and how he got this gig is the biggest joke of all, and the last dagger of Bill Parcells. Thanks Bill.

I didn't like the Jordan pick but when this kid is on the field good things happen. I like what I'm seeing out of him. Give him an offseason to strengthen up and perfect his pass rushing moves and he could be setup for a breakout season next year with double digit sacks especially when teams also have to gameplan for Wake on the other side. I'm worried about Taylor and Davis not seeing the field they should be able to crack into the nickel and dime coverage with our #2 starter CB being injured so much.

there was picks i liked and picks i didnt like in the draft , cant believe jordan dosent play more, why taylor cant get on pitch, etc

iam not sure this coaching staff can develop any of them?!!
