2016 Coaching Data Base

Again, experience is important, but in the end experience does not guarantee you the ability to lead...to command a room...to have players want to play hard for you and believe in your system.

sigh........OK, one last try. Shanahan and Jackson have both successfully (you can decide if successful is correct to describe Jackson's tenure in Oakland) run a team. In doing so, I believe they have proven they can lead, command a room and have their players play hard for them. So in my little mind, both these guys have proven they can do it.

Any of the coordinators that are candidates and haven't been a head coach before haven't proven anything at all. You are assuming they bring that to the table....but you haven't given a single reason why you think they bring that to the table other than they are young. The experienced guys have proven they can do it through their actions. The younger guys???

When we started this discussion way back when, I think most of us wanted a HC with experience this time around, ok maybe not most of us but I know I sure did, enough of first timers.

This team needs a well rounded HC with experience to compete in this division and lead this young team. A coach that gives them adequete game plans, can make adjustments, has been there and seen it all. There are only two candidates that fit that bill and I am not sure Tom C is even interested interested at the moment.

If assembling a staff is so important as the FO made it seem to be would also say these two have the best chance at that versus a first time head coach.

Another team that was interested in John Harbaugh if #Ravens let him go was #Dolphins. Not happening.

Doing the same thing over and over (1st time coaches) and expecting different results, There's a word for that.

I agree Albert. Get someone with HC experience and preferable a few super bowl trophies.

Pretty sure a bunch of teams would be interested in John Harbaugh if he became available. Sucks that the Ravens aren't run by idiots.

No immediate deal expected between Dolphins and Adam Gase after interview today, source said. Gase scheduled to interview with Giants next.

Good, for some reason he just never felt like the right fit but I could never really put my finger on why.

Source: The 49ers have met with former Eagles coach Chip Kelly about the head-coaching job.

Will Jackson be our last interview?
Can Tannenbaum seal the deal w/ Jackson ? (only 3 teams have shown interest/scheduled interview)
Will we be left at the altar again picking through crumbs?

It sounds like Mike Shanahan is our fall back plan.

For the first time in pretty much forever, I actually like our fall back plan.

Despite the fact most of Detroits resources ($, draft picks) have gone into the offense over the years, it was the defense that carried them.

Teryl Austin lost his best two players on defense and still had them as one of the top defenses in the league.

If any coordinators should be getting hype, it's Austin.

Teryl Austin is a good DC, but I think one reason that we are going to look harder at offensive guys is that there are good DCs on the market like Schwartz and Smith who could potentially be paired up with a coach who might not otherwise be able to bring an experienced DC.

There's also the fact that Steve Ross really wants a flashy, high-flying offense. That said, I think Austin has as good a shot as anyone, since Ross thinks the world of Jim Harbaugh and Jim has sung the man's praises.

This is the reason why I've generally favored the "offensive" candidates that are available. That being said you have to take the long view here. I'd much rather have the best head coach than a slightly lesser offensive minded head coach because there are experienced defensive coordinators available.
