2016 Coaching Data Base

Well so the question becomes if we didn't hire Gase and Hue had a choice between Brown and Dolphins who would he have picked?

Edit: guess we have to include Giants in there.

As down as we are on the Dolphins -- and rightfully so -- I can't imagine that anyone would choose the Browns job over the Dolphins job. The Browns job is on a whole new level of insanity right now with the changes Haslam has made to the organizational structure.

Any info on what happened with Hue and the 49's? That sounded like a sure thing.

I think hiring Hue is a big deal for the Browns.

his market really died off. he now reports to a lawyer and a baseball coach, he must have REALLY wanted to be a HC

That could have been a plus for him. Id be shocked if he didn't have some authority over personnel.

Going to a division rival is undoubtedly going to rub the Bengals the wrong way. Can't imagine many Cincy coaches will be joining him.

The only two rumors I've read were:

- The 49ers were 'upset' that they felt like Jackson was just playing games with them to try to get more money somewhere else.

- The 49ers can't afford to pay top dollar for a head coach, since they're on the hook for 14 million dollars for just one year of Meatheadsula.

Everything I heard was that they wouldn't relinquish full personnel authority to him.

Ohhhh, yeah, this makes sense, too. Hue is definitely a guy who wants a lot of control, and he would NOT get that with Baalke. He will get that in Cleveland with... the former General Manager of the New York Mets. :sidelol:

Yeah I also heard that Cleveland said they would be willing to adjust their power structure for the right coach. DePodesta is there to install analytics, doubt they were going to let him run everything, but it is Cleveland we are talking about.

I cant imagine why any coach would sign with Cleveland if ANY other team were showing legit interest (SF doesnt count as legit if they werent willing to pay up or give control).

Everything you need to know about how bad the 49ers situation is right now:

The average life expectancy of a Cleveland Browns head coach under Jimmy Haslam is less than two seasons. Jimmy Haslam is a criminal who ought to be in jail after Flying J robbed smaller 'Mom & Pop' trucking companies blind and then got caught red-handed doing it. The Browns' front office is being run by the former GM of the New York Mets.

People would still rather work for Jimmy Haslam than Jed York.

I could if he has a family (I'm not sure what that status is with Jackson) and didn't want to move states.

Another win for the Browns on this one: My understanding is new EVP Sashi Brown came off very well in the process of pursuing Hue Jackson.

Sashi Brown is clearly a pretty impressive person. Anyone who could have kept Jimmy Haslam out of prison after the insane stuff that came out about Pilot Flying J and their criminal activities -- and Haslam's knowledge of said criminal activities -- is clearly a persuasive individual.

So the great Dolphins assistants scattering is underway. Increasingly likely that Coyle ends up in Cincinnati and Campbell in New Orleans.
