I don't really see this list as depressing.

I think the answer would be, based on what time frame? Because if we're talking about how he was playing before he got hurt in 2016, Tannehill would be a strong consideration. If we're talking about how he played down the stretch in 2017, Xavien Howard would have to be a strong consideration.

People who think this list is depressing clearly weren't paying attention to what guys like Drake and Howard did last season, even when the rest of the team was struggling. Kenny Stills is one of the best deep threat specialists in the league and will show that again this season when he has good quarterback play. Our roster is missing some key pieces (LINEBACKER) but I guess I'm in the minority who believes that this team is not as devoid of talent / as far from returning to the playoffs as some think.

There are a lot of folks on here that have been surprised at how lowly the likes of ESPN have ranked us, but if you look at it without aqua and orange blinkers on, it's not easy to make a case for too much optimism. This roster has a whole lot of question marks over it. To be even an improvement on last year may be an achievement in a lot of neutrals eyes.
Hopefully they are all wrong and we've made a bunch of under the radar roster moves that make us a contender, personally I'm sceptical at this point but willing to wait and see.

Sorry but it’s Minkah and it isn’t even close. Our talent across the board is not great and borderline good. Minkah is great and will be great. He was not supposed to be there at eleven, that was a rare gift this year and I hope the Dolphins faux interest in a quarterback helped make that happen. I hope someone breaks out and becomes a super star, but we do not have one right now as it is. Minkah is more of a sure thing than Roquan, Edmunds or any of the quarterbacks we had a shot at, a blessing for us. Get your jersey, boys.
Huh? Doesn’t he have to play first? Love the optimism and hope you are correct.

Minkah is also coming in here playing a completely different position than what he played in college. He played the vast majority of his snaps at nickel/STAR.

I think Tannehill's our most important to success this year, though he may not be what some consider to be our "best" player.

Tannehill is our best and most valuable player. I believe he and Gase will have huge comeback years, and will show the world how little people in general truly understand NFL football. This is our year, we have our severely underrated franchise QB back, and Gase who I believe in (hated Queasy) f****** knows it.

well... We have to hope its Thill. But the rookie safety might make a splash if he's a good as advertised.

Kinda depressing but none of those guys could even make the pro bowl this year. I'll play it safe and say Reshad Jones or drake if he can stay healthy.

Best for 2018?

Jones is a safe pick because he's generally one of the best at his position every season.

We have expectations over Drake and Tannehill, if they both excel we should have a good season, if they don't we'll be picking high next year.

With that said, I'm going to go with Wake to once again have an age defying season in what could be his final season with us unless we extend him again. I think another double digit sack season is possible and it would be nice to see it happen.

Reshad Jones, you can make the case that he is arguably one of the three best SS in football. it was really, really hard not to vote for the Patron Saint of Long Snapping though.

Currently it's Jones, considering he's not only our best player he's literally top 3 at his position in the league.

I believe this conversation will be quite different this time next year as I am extremely confident this O is going to look completely different than it has for the last 15 years. They have focused on high football IQ and speed. I see a lot of complexity coming that is going to pay dividends on the scoreboard. Again, I don't predict the future so this whole thing could go down in flames. I just don't see it.....and if it does it will NOT be from a lack of trying bc they are going down a very deliberate path right now. I for one am very encouraged.

For the sake of the offense and our team you would hope it would be drake. Games start and finish with the run game, God willing he has a breakout year and the offense is rolling. Jones will have a good year with Minkah back there and vice versa. I'd go with Minkah having the biggest impact on defense for sure.

Exactly those calling the roster depressing and devoid of talent clearly weren't paying attention to the young guys last season. Drake and Howard could be pro bowl type players. Kenny Stills is underrated. Even Albert Wilson has a chance to break out. Devante Parker has always had the talent to be a top WR, of course he needs to show it on the field on a more consistent basis. Jakeem Grant has a unique skill set and showed flashes even with a bad QB in 2017. The LB position still has a lot of questions but there are possible answers already on the team. If McMillan plays up to his potential he will fill that void at MLB. We will see how McDonald, Baker and Anthony work out in their roles. Kiko is Kiko but maybe he plays better with someone like McMillan playing next to him. Chase Allen also has some potential. I think Reshad Jones can still play at a Pro Bowl level. I see Quinn having a bounce back year switching back from 3-4 OLB to his natural position at 4-3 DE. I see Jordan Phillips having a monster year, while Godchaux and Taylor, with a year under their belts, should be improved. We will have to see if they add a veteran DT. Don't overlook Cordrea Tankersley, he has elite potential, just was very raw and inconsistent in his rookie year. Wake and Hayes even at their ages can still play at a high level. On the O-Line Tunsil still has the ability to become a top LT in the league. Tunsil will benefit greatly by having Sitton next to him. James is a solid RT. Jesse Davis looks like he has potential to be a stud at RG. Josh Sitton even though he may only have a year or two left was still playing like a top 5 guard last year. Daniel Kilgore while not a superstar is an upgrade over the guy who couldn't even practice last season. Young guys like Isaac Asiata and Eric Smith have a shot to prove that they belong. Minkah and Gesicki have the talents to become elite at their positions in the NFL.

Last but not least the most underrated player on the team. If he comes back close to the level he was playing at before he got hurt in 2016, Ryan Tannehill has the potential to have a great year. Anyone who can't see that a healthy Tannehill is a huge upgrade over what they had at QB in 2017 is just blinded by their own hatred. Every team in the NFL has question marks. I don't see any team out there that is full of young Super Stars. This Dolphins team is severely underestimated. That's fine, it is always good when they fly under the radar and surprise.Of course not everything is going to work out the way you hope. However if the team stays relatively healthy and most players on the team play to near their potential, IMO the Dolphins will be a playoff team in 2018.
