Thats absolutely right. There is no point in wasting time with player development. Every rookie that doesnt show elite talent right away, should be cut.
Once a player makes a bad 1st impression, they should be dumped. Even when they were playing out of position.
Thank God we dumped Wade Smith when it was clear he couldn't play LT. He never amounted to much.
I don't disagree that the biggest problem isn't his pocket presence, a bigger problem is his escape ability. He can't make people miss or isn't strong enough to break any tackles. If you watch Luck he ALWAYS makes the first and often the 2nd and 3rd guy miss, and rarely does the first guy get him down. Ryan rarely breaks a tackle and more often than not, the first guy gets him down. Marino couldn't out run my grandmother, but I say he wouldn't have taken 30 sacks last year. He had the ability to make people miss in a phone booth, and could use blocks in ways Ryan hasn't learned to date.
Ryan has very good speed but very average acceleration. Nor does he have a great feel for how to use a defensive players momentum against them. This is an area he has to get much better at, or it won't matter how much we spend on OL.
Typical fan who can't take a real look at his qb. Just because the o line was horrible doesn't give Ryan a free pass when the time was given to him in the pocket. He holds the ball to long and can't sense pressure. If you can't agree with that then I don't know what to tell you. The evidence is right in front of you.
Philbin: "Some of that’s fundamental, some of that’s footwork, some of that’s release, some of that’s timing.
There’s a lot of factors that go into that.”
No, the "Typical" fan is a lot like you. Yeah, I see as soon as the ball is snap there are like 5 guys in the QBs face. But, from my couch at home watching the game. I see a small crack if he jukes this way and then twist that way and then jumps to the side backwards. That will create enough space so that he can then launch it deep to Wallace for a TD!
WAKE UP! This isn't Madden.
It's clear you don't understand the game.
There aren't 5 guys in his face every play... I"m not talking about those plays the oline fails him.
I'm talking about the plays he has sufficient time, the line eventually breaks down, and he doesn't do anything with the ball. Doesn't side step, doesn't step up in the pocket, doesn't tuck and run.
You are the "typical" fan of - it's not the qb's fault.... it's everyone else's.
The argument that there are 5 guys in his face every play doesn't hold water, because it is simply not true.
they envision dallas thomas as a starter...![]()
What a ****ing joke. Not to mention him he wants RT...a QB to "Break tackles"? Are you kidding me?
Sarcasm is clearly not your friend! Perhaps i should of said 10 to emphasize the point. What you aren't acknowledging is the cumulative effects of a QB getting that much pressure throughout the season and more specifically getting hit as much as he did.
You seem to expect the same level or awareness of 1 hit/sack vs. hit/sack number 58! WAKE THE FREAK UP!
Second point, R.Tannehill at times bought extra time by maneuvering the pocket. A fact, not surprising, you've conveniently omitted from your babble of a criticism.
As it was in the beginning so shall it be in the end, "Go kick-Rocks!!"
