4 those on the fire Sparono wagon...

That is what people don't think about, all they care about is getting rid of Tony. Cowher? The guy that took 15 years to win a Super Bowl? Most couldn't even give Tony three seasons, no way Cowher would get the time he needs. Gruden? Won a Super Bowl with Dungy's players and quickly became hated by his players. Some hot shot flavor of the year coordinator, who if he doesn't win in year one will be start being called to be replaced? Another college coach? Can you say a Saban repeat? Worst yet, what happens it we end up with Mike Nolan? Ugh.

Just be careful what you wish for. Tony took over a 1-15 team and has a winning record over three years. Things could be a lot worse, like Nolan as head coach worse.

As hard as I am on this regime and want change, it's way to early in the season to think about. But to suggest that Sparano is even mildly comparative to Bill Cowher in their first three seasons is ridiculous. Don't let homerism cloud your judgement Nubs. You're a lot smarter then that.

If it wasn't for Pennington falling into their laps Sparano most likely would have a losing record for all 3 seasons.Remember who they were going into camp as a starter (McCown)? If anything Pennington has hurt this organization because they are still searching for a starting QB going into their 4th year.

And I laugh every time you post saying Sparano has a winning record.I can spin it the other way and say Sparano has loosing record. He has 2 losing seasons out of 3.

One question for you Nubs if this team doesn't make the playoffs should Sparano stay?

Since Nubs wont do it because he is incapable of being rational, let me help him out.......................

So he takes a 7-9 team(sound familiar) and gets homefield advantage with them in his first year. Then IN HIS 3RD SEASON, goes to the ****ing SUPER BOWL. PLAYOFFS EVERY YEAR for his first 6 years. Yea, thats real similar to Sparano. :rolleyes2:

I could see how we would get impatient with results like that and want him fired. No way he wouldve ever made it to year 15 in order to win that Super Bowl. GET ****ING REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tony Sparano ****ING BLOWS. Get that through your head Nubs. You sound ridiculous with these nonsense arguments like trying to suggest Cowher is no better and that certain fans wouldve wanted him fired.

Sounds like what Ryan has done with the Jets, I wonder what percentage of Jets fans are asking for Ryan to be fired?

The other thing is the Dolphins and Jets were on about the same level when Ryan took over, now they are considered one of the top teams in the league and we're closer to competing with the Bills for the basement of the AFC than making the playoffs.

You can't predict who's going to be the next great coach, all you can do is take a leap of faith, stick him in there and judge his results. People may hate on parcells around here but he does have one of the best quotes in sport "You are what your record says you are"

A lot of people thought Wanny was a great coach until it was too late as well.

yes but in 15 seasons he won his division 9 times...and went to the playoffs 11 times...and he was smart enough to draft ben...seriously dude...when was the last 15 year span where we won the division 9 times...

Im still waiting for Nubs to post Cowher's accomplishments in his first 3 seasons with Pittsburgh and explain how he would possibly get fired or how any fan would suggest he shouldve been.

I get sick of that completely flawed 15 years to win a SB argument as if Cowher was 7-9 garbage every year for the first 14. Yea, a guy is going to consistantly win for us and there is no way he sticks 15 years just because he hasnt won a SB yet..... GET REAL.
You wont get a response. I got into the same debate a couple of days ago with a "Cowher didnt win until year 15"-ite, and the discussion ended when I posted Cowher's accomplishments prior to 2006. Nobody here would be thrilled with a SB loss, but i can guarantee 99% of this board would be tickled pink with the progress of this regime if we were in the SB last year.

I'd take a playoff win...or even a winning record at this point...wait, who am i kidding? just gimme an offensive gameplan that wasnt devised before the advent of the forward pass.

I look at it like this; Sparano took us to the playoffs year one and turned this team completely around and Ireland got us a QB who could lead us. Completely turned this team around. Wildcat suprise is behind it as well.

Then, we took a turn for the worse. But we got rid of the DC and brought in a guy to fix it in Nolan. Now we look great! It took two years to get here but any reasonable person should expect this.

Then we sucked on O and Henning along with wildcat dude made this offense predictable to the enemy and we stunk and put henne in bad spots. Then we got a new OC in Daboll who runs a NE style offense where it spreads guys out with speed. It is a QB friendly offense. You get rid of the ball fast, which to me, is one of henne's biggest probs. This offense should naturally make henne get the ball out quicker. So if we get more TD's than FG's with a great defense, then we should beat many teams. We beat good teams last year on the road.

This management has improved each facit of the game one at a time IMO. Yes O needs to be proven yet but i sense it already is an improvement based on Henning gone. this regime has built this team now IMO. We have a full deck of cards and waiting for QB play, good OL play, and cohesive units. The one coveat is special teams. We sucked bad vs. Pats in both games and other games and were decent later on but to no avail. This management has made this team better even though the record last year does not show it. As long as these guys continually improve each facit, then you will eventually have a successful franchise. I think Ireland is doing it. If you dont like the fist pumps, i say, would you like him to be a lazy bum looking into space like Wannstedt?

I am looking for improvement in the O in points scored bottome line. If we make this O successful but still fall short (likely) then why on this earth would you want to change now? you shouldnt want to. You should demand that whatever is falling short, that it gets improved so that all 45 guys make a great team. Not just Chad Henne.

A post with a realistic point of view backed by actual facts and common sense doesn't get posted here very often. Wow, imagine if more posters followed your lead we could actually read and participate in some interesting debates.

Now back to the (enter name here) " ________" sucks threads, lol!

Gruden - He ****in blows. He's another huge myth. He's Parcells like in that regard. Couldnt agree with you more. Gruden fell *** backwards into a title. On top of all of that he is a punk. I dont care for him and never will. I cant stand even watching him on ESPN. He's all hype.

I disagree 100%. Hes a great coach IMO. But a ****ty talent evaluator and terrible roster manager. But dude can coach for sure.

Are you saying that you want the regime back even if we don't win a playoff game this year?

THANK YOU for a voice of REASON.

Everyone wants instantaneous success. I believe we're building a team properly. Although not being in playoffs hurt when the Jests are buying every player in sight. But that's the way contenders are built. Slowly and surely. The season hasn't even started and people care calling for his head. Heck, there hasn't even been one preseason game yet. The more people slag Sparano the more I think he'll last the season.

To a certain extent it doesn't matter........We are not going anywhere with Sparano........

so in those 15 years of going to the playoffs 11 times and winning his division 9 times and basically being responsible for the 2nd superbowl, cowher was doing something wrong?
