790 Reports: Houck Could Be O-Line Coach Of Year

Well, good news just seems to be ocming in droves right now. I suppose any good news ( preseason or otherwiae ) is welcome. Jeno James has been out an awful long time which concerns me, however, when he comes back, we should have a pretty decent starting corps with our backups having some experience.

Another thing to think about. If Hadnot and Carey start and excell in their spots ( LT, C ), we will have two YOUNG cornerstones at the two hardest positions to fill opn the line. McDougle, James, Middleton and others will porbably come and go over the next couple of years but those two could be around for awhile and help anchor a line.

I am excited right now. I can't wait for Monday.

Guess what?

Palm Beach Post reported Jeno James was back in practice tonight at the Stadium!

790 The Ticket just said that tonights practice was a huge success and they even went as far to say we could have one of the top O-Line's in the league. The guy even said that Houck could be the best O-Line coach in the league after what he has done with this team. Also stated that each of the quarterbacks had close to 20 seconds of protection. I know that these are very bold statements for only after 2 weeks of practice, but it is very good to hear that our O-Line is vastly improved. Finally they said that our O-Line will impress everyone on Monday.
20 seconds?!

yea 20 seconds... **** We better give this oline coach one hell of a raise and will someone buy this guy a Ferrari

Watch out Dallas will take him from us next year ...

Not to negate in any way Houck's coaching, but I think he also has some better material to work with: McDougal over St. Clair, Hadnot at Center over McKinney, and Carey sounds like he's living up to 1st round billing, Middleton at RG(soon). Easy to make chicken salad with these chickens. Those upgrades should be credited to Saban and his personnell staff.
you gave us a list, but from that list, only one guy wasn't on the team last year, and that is mcdooge. Does he have more talent work with? NO, he works better with what he has than wise did.

He already coached Dallas' O-line.

As for the 20 seconds, that is what 790 reported. Sure, that is probably a little inflated, but what they meant was that all the QBs had a good amount of time in the pocket.

Great, with the o-line playing good then we can finally see if Feeley is the real deal. I am excited about watching Monday night.

Guys, while Houck is a great coach, you have to realize our personnel is no where near the same as last year.

2004:
LT: Damion McIntosh
LG: Jeno James
C: Seth McKinney
RG: Taylor Whitley (played the majority, then Hadnot came in)
RT: John St. Clair

2005 Probable Opening Day Line:
LT: Vernon Carey
LG: Jeno James
C: Rex Hadnot
RG: Frank Middleton
RT: Stockar McDougle

THAT'S A HUGE IMPROVEMENT!!!

Man you're not kidding, there is some real OL talent there!

Yeah, but with the exception of two new guys, (and one isn't the starter-yet) we had the same guys last year, but it was wanny who held two of our future/current starters back, and didn't give them a chance to show their stuff.

Definitely an improvement, I don't think Middleton starts though. I think St. Clair will start at guard, and Hadnot center.

Not to be negative, but is the oline that much improved or is the DL that bad. Might be a combination of both. Should be interesting to watch on Monday night.

that is my worry, Monday night will tell !! Go Fins!

One year ago at this time I was sick to my soul with watching the Dolphin Redskin pre-season game and watching what was the WORST offensive line I had EVER seen on a professional level. Now we have statements indicating the opposite extreme.
