A question for those who actually live in the Miami area.

When I watch the games, I see a LOT of empty seats each week... but the games are listed as sold out. So... the tickets were sold, but so many seem to not actually be there.

Is this a case of they are out in the parking lot getting drunk... or are most of the no-shows caused by ticket agencies and poor resale numbers?

Anyone have a clue?
Lots of companies buy lots of season tickets. At 1 pm on a Sunday, there's just many other things in the area to do. It's a fickle city for football fandom. The Canes games have lots of holes too. It sucks, because this team deserves it to be full of Dolphins fans. However, I'm a hypocrite as I'm not dealing with the **** show and expense of an 8 hour round trip to watch a game I can see better from my sofa with a negroni in my hand and the smoker rolling.

Yeah, they have their sights on $$$, alright. But that doesn't contradict what I said: GOING to a game is for wealthy people, not the average fan.
IDK. I guess it depends on what one considers "wealthy".

I could go to games if that were high on my priority list, and I certainly don't consider myself wealthy.

Now, if one is making minimum wage, or put themselves in more debt than was wise, yeah they can't afford a game.

It was upsetting me a bit as I watched the game, not only did there seem to be as many Giant's fans, but it seemed they were louder, and the Stadium only got loud when the Giants made a play

There was even a point where Miami made a play, and I heard boos?

I'm trying to find a new home during one of the worst housing markets in years. All my spare money above my bills is going to that. (Except for last week when I got hit with a surprise $500 vet bill for my dog, but I digress.) Dropping several hundred dollars (at minimum) for tickets, parking, food & drinks and mayyyyybe a souvenir or merch?

Yeah, nah. Not even an option.

I am at every home game, and constantly see these posts following a game and am always curious what the poster os talking about.

The past 2 years the stadium has been filled for almost every home game. Yes there is often 25-30 percent opposing fans. But that is due to the destination that is South Florida.

I promise you at the beginning of the 2nd quarter (once everyone gets into the stadium) it is pretty jam Packed. The only section that is not, would be the away lower level, as it's an oven over there.
This ^. Came back home a few years ago and was hooked up for tickets from the GM right outside club 72, and we have friends on staff who got us field passes so we went down pregame during warmups. Field was a freaking sauna and looked at visitors side and no way can you sit there.

two big reasons for lower attendance is they moved the stadium so far north to attract Broward fans they lost a lot of Dade fans, and the population of So Fla has changed a ton in the last 20-30 years. Larger latin and northern US migration has meant fewer local natives who grew up here, and the NY/Philly/Boston folks have their own teams to cheer on. How many Miami people do you think moved up there and vice versa.

My sis just moved to Miami Beach. I have friends in Lauderdale. Almost everyone I have met is from S America, NY, Boston, etc. The point being, that transplants root for their home team when they play the Fins. Like it or not it's the issue with a Stadium based in a out of town resident type place.

It's the same for all of the CA teams.

Well, except for the Raiders when they were in Oakland. You'd get assaulted with a deadly weapon for wearing a different jersey and cheering loudly

I personally have been to three or four games at hard rock, and had a great home crowd experience, but I completely can see how a game versus the Jets or Giants would have a lot of those fans. outside of those two teams in my experience, I’ve had great hometown, tailgating, and stadium filled with dolphin cheer.

I don't live locally and have never been to a game. Mostly because I can't afford it and it's a long drive from the Orlando area. However, I am also concerned that after spending all that money I may come away disappointed. Not so much with our team, especially nowadays, but with the fan experience. Question: is it possible to sit and enjoy the game without the fans in front of you standing and blocking your view, or is it commonplace for others to stand the entire game? It may sound weird, but I don't want to sit, stand, sit, stand, sit, stand, sit, awe **** it I will just stand, the entire afternoon. I just want to grab a hot dog and a cold beer, sit back and enjoy watching the game where I can actually see what the hell is going on.

That's right, bro. We got you.
Ha!
Being Cuban has absolutely nothing to do with seats not being filled 100%.
I’m Cuban and as a kid when I came in the 80’s I immediately fell in love with the game and became my number one sport, though I was a huge baseball fan. Heck I even played organized high school and semi- pro football. Tried out for Canadian football as well.

The older Cuban generation may not have been into football, but the younger 1st and so on are football fans, but as someone else mentioned, the Dolphins have been ass for quite too long, while the NBA’s Miami Heat have been taking Miami by storm.

Just take a look at the Marlins. Cubans are known for being huge baseball fans, but that Marlin’s stadium is an absolute embarrassment with no one showing up.

Winning is key here. IMO that’s how fan bases remain solid.

PS: those ticket prices man! 🤦‍♂️

You can't Philbin it up and expect a Shula crowd. Gonna take a while for this team's stink to wear off for some people.
