Abramson: The feeling is Gaine is the guy

He is just speculating, even says so.

Yes he is, but he says it's the feeling from people he is talking too. I hope I am wrong about the situation and would have no problem eating Crow, but people I know that do have contacts within the Dolphins continue to tell me Aponte is on a power play here.

Nobody of great promise is going to take this job from outside the organization with Aponte looming and having to inherit Philbin. They will keep interviewing to see if any bites, but they will not.

That is why it will be Gaine or someone that is close to Aponte.

The best shake up this org can have is Aponte taking the job with the NFL.

Ross

Aponte

Gaine

Joe

Joe gets more power after all of this...

Where have I heard this before...lol.

I like Gaine and think he has some promise. However, at the end of the day, the issue is still this team is not coached very well and the owner is going to double down on him to try to turn this around. Unreal.

Either you and I are going to be eating a lot of crow, or we are going to see a lot of people spin once this Aponte power play is complete. I pray I am eating crow, but I think we are going to see a lot of spin masters...

again, Gaine is qualified in his own right, but Abramson does not say the feeling is Gaine is the guy

Ummmmm, pretty sure that is exactlly what he said.

@AbramsonPBP8h
As for Dolphins GM, most people I'm talking to say S.Ross hard to read, but growing feeling Gaine could be promoted to GM w/someone over him

That's why I am afraid no strong GM type will come here because Aponte doesn't want someone over her.

I'm fine with Philbin having final say on his roster.

Unless the coach is spending as much time pouring over films and reading reports as the GM or whoever is in charge of scouting, I don't think he should have the final say. Good talent evaluation is a lot more involved than "I saw team X play a couple of times and I really like player A." Talent evaluation is a bit of a science. The head coach and the GM should evaluate needs together; the head coach should inform the GM of how he prioritizes the skill set for players at any particular position, but I'd rather the actual selections were made by the people who have spent time pouring over every detail of available players.

With all her power why is she allowing interviews to take place? Just promote Gaine and move on.

Do you really think aponte is going to stick around for a job with dolphins instead of taking one of the most prestigious jobs in the nfl?

This is what I think. Our recent drafts have SUCKED! Why the **** would we want one of these pathetic talent evaluators. I don't mind keeping him, IF he's working under an GM I'd be happy.

I won't be happy until the slate is cleared. I'm going on record now in saying we're not going to the playoffs next year either.

I really don't understand this silly notion that Marino could come in and play the role Elway plays in Denver. Marino has done nothing to prepare himself for that role. When he had an opportunity years back, to travel that road, he quit on us. Elway had something in him driving him to a FO role; Marino has demonstrated no such drive.

God help us but I think your right.

What has Gaine done to prove he is a step up in the area of talent evaluation?

That's a good question. We really have no clue on most of these men being put forth.

It's called politics. They have to look like they are doing there earnest to bring in the best candidates. Once again, I hope I am wrong, but don't think I am.

Why in the hell would Ross promote a guy that learned from and worked under the guy he just canned?!?! Gaine may turn out to be good, but I for one would think it is a bad idea to promote someone who is from a failed regime.

So they are playing politics to please the fan base?
