According to Saban...AJ has outplayed gus in three out of four games....

If none of our QB's are that good (as you say) what is the fear of losing one?
Having someone worse come in and replace them. Gus and Feeley aren't exactly Marino or Manning caliber players but they're a hell of a lot better than Sage or Brock.

I'd kind of like to have someone behind the center to take snaps this year. You at least attempt to have some sort of passing game...
I don't want to have to bring in Testeverde who has admitted he's waiting for a team to get desperate. Our qbs aren't that good, but there not nearly as bad as he is. I don't want to be put in that position. But if you want to, hey thats your opine.

Your living under the assumption that BOTH will get injured in the same game (next week). It's an idiotic assumption to begin with to base your stance around!

Didn't we almost lose two QBs on successive plays in NE last year??

Is it? Is it really? I seem to remember a game last year, Minn, I think. Where 2 qbs and a rb were injured in the same game. We have the crappy oline. Its not that much of a stretch for 2 qbs to be hurt in the same game behind those linesmen...

it's not good that neither QB plays well with our 1st team, maybe we should make our 2nd team our 1st team

both of the QB looked good the other night but I must say that Feeley has looked good and would have the job if it was up to me but nonetheless I trust Saban... I think this is Linehan's call of going with Frerotte instead of Feeley

the original rumor/story from Minny was that Linehan talked Saban into signing Gus because he looked great in practice the last 2 years in Minny. I, after watching Frerotte for 10 yrs now would agree. He must look great in practice cause that's the only way I can assume he has been able to last this long in the league...cause he doesn't show it in games!!

I'll tell you what's idiotic.....That's what they'll call Saban if he plays gus or Feeley for more than a few series each and they end up getting injured....They'll say, "That idiotic rookie head coach doesn't know crap about how to keep his starting QBs healthy throughout the preseason. He played his starters too long in a meaningless game....What a moron."

as I said the odds are slim to begin with.

The Falcons also have a really good pass-rushing defense. So, they do attack the QB alot.

Good point, I remember that.

Aj has put up better stats, but I think that Gus almost has to be the starter right now because he's been taking most of the reps with the starting unit in the preseason. Usually the 3rd-4th preseason game if a team has 5, teams know who the starter will be, and the last preseason game is to see what guys will take the last few remaining roster spots.

and you and others ripped Wannstedt for being too conservative! :shakeno: Unreal

Brock won't even be on the team by the time the next game comes around

I agree with this. Yes there is a risk of injury, the risk is less that BOTH would get hurt. That risk is outweighed by the concern of who should be the starter. AJ has looked good, but the concern that is against the 2nd team is legit. Like I said it isnt stats that has impressed me the most, but the continued confidence and poise he has shown under pressure the last 2 weeks. Giving both time against teh same units would allow for better comparisons.

I want Aj, but I wish that since it was apparant Saban/Linehan wanted and felt Gus was the setter option, he would have stepped up and ran with it. Now we go into the final pre-season game w/o a clear cut starter and the offense as a whole is teh one who loses. There isnt that time to gain a continuity and a confidence that this is teh guy. If AJ does become the starter, the offense has to basically start over and get adjusted to AJ again, and that will give them 1 week to work with him after three weeks of working with Gus. Not an ideal situation.

I do think if AJ is teh better qb, he should start, but I think that it would have been better to give hm time last nite with teh 1st team and rotated last nite, so we could have solved this last nite so whoever started could get 2 weeks in practice leading up to Denver game.
