Speilman was the GM at that time, not Wanny. There was no way the team could afford to pay him what he was asking for.

Adam Schefter is a smart and objective man. He wasn't criticizing our team, he just got finished telling everyone how great Saban's system is. Saying we are short on talent is not a diss - its a true statement. If our 4-12 record from last year doesn't prove it to you, how about two preseason losses?

You said we have Ronnie and Ricky - well Ricky is for sure a talent but Ronnie has never set foot on an NFL field, how do we know he will have talent? Chambers is talented, but at what other teams have as a #2 WR. Sammie Morris is a stopgap fix, not a pure talent RB. Gordon flat-out sucks, i can't believe you mentioned his name and "talent" in the same sentence. Marty Booker had talent but fell into obscurity last year, and hasn't shown anything this preseason to predict otherwise for this year, Boston was injured all last year and was a problem child before that - hasn't produced since 2001, 4 years ago. McMike is one of the top TEs, but outside of him and Ricky, not much talent on the offense.

the QBs and OL right now are terrible. you say "average", but that is being a homer. ask any other fan of another NFL team how good our Qb's are. yeah. unless frerotte does extrodinarily well this year, we have no clout in that department.

Schefter is a wise man, and probably one of the most objective journalists out there. i still respect his comments and opinion, and if we can take the homer glasses off for a second, you can see what he is saying.

Ronnie's signing is huge, because outside of Ricky (who won't be available to us until week 6), we have little to no talent on offense.

on the defense you talk about crowder and roth and other "prospects"... you can't talk about rookies that haven't even played in NFL games and judge them as talent - they still have to prove themselves. they are prospects. Thomas, Seau, Madison, and Taylor are the only real "talent" we have on D right now, and even they are getting up there in years and losing a "step"

don't confuse potential with talent. we DO have a lot of potential, but little talent.

If you've watched Chambers play you would know how good he is. Chambers will have a good year, he's a good number 1, has the talent to be a great no.1 if the ball is thrown to him more often, Boston is playing and is coming bakc this guy is really talented, Booker is a good receiver, could be the best no.3 receiver a team could have, Ronnie and Ricky. It matters where you look, the Wrs and rbs are stacked, the O-line is a ? It might be a lineup for years to come we have to see how things unfold first, though. Lack of talent qb, obviously, some spots in the secondary, DT, yes Miami is lacking talent in some spots but other postions they are just as talented or more talented than any team, If you say Miami has little talent, it's wise to be a bit more specific, because the team overall has more talent than some might think if they actually think before they say something.
 
we have talent in our weapons (a ton). unfortunately no good, dependable QB to compliment them, so it won't show as much until we get one.

Chambers has talent, yes, but he needs to give effort 100% of the time to be a superstar. Last year you saw he gave up by week 3. He was half-assing routes, not following through on plays, etc.... i don't blame him because our team sucked, but still.... through thick and thin you have to play. I would love to see him never give up. He can catch like no one else, which is great when you have QBs like ours who enjoy throwing errant passes.
 
well see when his broncos go down to a loser team like ours!

yeah, but I can't blame him for being frustrated with Wanny's offense, the guy didn't have a system or a clue. I think Saban will demand and get Chambers to play his all every down, it seems like he has influence on the team so far to play in that manner, and I don't expect that to change.

i'll drink to that... here's to hoping Chambers flourishes in Linehan's offense!
 
Not sure if it was posted, but this is the same guy who said emphatically that the Dolphins would NOT take a running back with the first pick in the draft. He almost staked his life to it for crying out loud.

I would not listen to him, I think he is a stuffed suit.

Schefter gets his information from insider info. he is correct about 95% of the time. Of course people's minds change. If he heard from someone on Nick Saban's staff (and again remember Nick was stressing utmost secrecy) that we were going QB, whats not to keep Nick from changing his mind? why should he have to go along with what was told to Schefter? and it could have been part of dis-information, to mislead others.

OR it could have been at one point we were set on NOT going RB, Schefter reports that as such, then we change our minds and decide to go RB, but he just doesn't report "the update".

Look, this guy knows what he is talking about. Just because you don't agree with his analysis doesn't mean he's an idiot or "stuffed suit."
 
You cant be seriously upset at his comments.

Talent = RWilliams, RBrown, CChambers, JTaylor, ZThomas, VCarey, RMcMichael, SMadison.

Thats 8 players of 22.

It includes a retired-unstable player, a rookie and a one year pro who has 2 starts.
Three defensive player that are all 30 or older. As well as Chambers and McMichael who are big talent.

I know other guys "may" have some talent, Boston, Roth, Booker, Chrowder, etc. But honestly the previous eight players represent "the talent" on the team.

His remarks are on target. Its now up to the players to prove themsleves on the field.

i'm with you 100% on your comment there, just thought i'd correct the stat more in our favor.

Remember guys, he said when the coaches looked over our team, they were surprised at how "bare the shelves were; there's just not a lot of talent there."

and that is correct. he did not say "there is no talent there", just not a "lot" of talent there, and this is a true statement. so stop overreacting!
 
Every member of the media hates the Dolphins, and has no clue what they're talking about, unless of course they say something good about the Phins. I don't believe that, but it seems that alot of Dolfans do.
 
Miamis amount of talent is no different than most teams, so a reporter to say that the Colts have a lot of talent would be off, even though the Colts are a good team. They have 7 or 8 players of talent out of the 22 or so just like Miami, if that's what you beleive about miami. Peyton, Edgerrin James, Harrison, Wayne, I I'll add stokeley too, Freeney, maybe Nick Harper, but not much for the D, most offense hardly any on D. how about the Chiefs, Trent Green, Gonzalez, Holmes, Kendrell Bell, Pat Surtain, Sammy Knight, maybe Derrick Johnson even though he is a rookie. 7 out of 22. Bills- McGahee, Moulds, Evans, I guess Losman I don't know, Spikes, Fletcher, Schoebel, Clements, Sam Adams, 9 of 22. Lat but not least the Pats- Brady, Dillon, Branch, maybe Givens, Vrabel, McGinest, Seymour, R.Harrison, Wilson. 9 of 22. so there ya go. I'm just going by the way you list talent, the "names" on the team./
