On NFL Total Access, Schefter stated that the Dolphins and Giants are very interested in Couch. There wasn't much more to it than that. I know there are already three threads, but I saw nothing about this.

*Also, Couch has supposedley fully recovered from injury.

I'm not a Couch fan, but he's a better option than Feeley or Ferotte

He's definitely worth a looksie. Why would he be interested in the Giants? He'll never sniff the field even if he does turn his career around, Jim Plunkett style. However, with us, he has a chance at a future starting position if he does do the Jim Plunkett career resurrection.

because he has shown so much, especially in both camps last year in which he was a participant. Its a bit late coming in at the end of training camp when we already have 4 ? marks here and they need to get all the snaps we can give them.

Based on what???....

Just because he was a #1 pick, doesn't make him better. Some QB's have it, some don't. Thus far, Couch hasn't proven he's any better than what we already have....

PHINZ RULE!!!

I think he is worth a look, but there is no way he plays this year, he would be so far behind.

How do we know if he is a better option than Gus? Maybe than Feel Me for sure, but Gus has looked good and made the pro bowl before. Actually, Gus reminds me of a top quality backup, who is starting. I think Gus is better than Fumbler, at least he can throw the deep pass.

If Couch has anything in that arm, he is worth a shot. A first round draft choice taken over both Culpepper and Mcnabb, must have or has some talent. And IM sure there is a possibility that the arm problem just compunded the problems he was having to begin with.

Look, the guy is still young and worth taking a look at. Who are we to say he isnt, if NIck thinks so?

Am I the only one that is fairly content with Ferotte this year? With the weapons around him and an improved OLine, I think Ferotte will do well. Last year at least 4-6 of our losses were due to our QB throwing a int for a touchdown. Ferotte will not make those types of mistakes. With a very much improved running game, our QB play will benifit tremendously from this. I'm ok with bringing in guys to develop, but I'm OK with Ferotte this year.

If there is some validity to this claim, then my guess is that Saban saw something in Couch while at KY and Saban at LSU (both SEC). Maybe he knows something we don't? Dunno...but if Saban's hiding an ace, you won't know till he's signed. Maybe, just a remote maybe, but maybe this could be a low risk gamble to try and harvest a QB for the future of this franchise. You have to admit, Couch was under alot of pressure in Cleveland and crumbled like so many other No. 1s. Ya never know.

I'm fairly content with Frerotte this year, because I know there's no better option out there and there was not one available during the offseason. No matter what you say, there was no premium quarterback available in trade or free agency, and Alex Smith was not available to us at #2.

Think of the teams that are supposedly most interested in Couch. The Giants obviously have a quarterback of the future. So, interest in Couch should not be taken as a sign that we're looking at him as a starter.

It is definitely worth looking into him to see if he's got more velocity on the ball now after the shoulder surgery. His arm had become the equivalent of a wet noodle before the surgery. Drew Brees has become the good quarterback that he is today in no small part because he broke down his pass mechanics, diet, and exercise routines and came out the other side with 20% more velocity on the ball than he use to have and an arm that actually showed up WELL in that EA Quarterback Challenge against guys who supposedly have very strong arms.

:yeahthat: I agree. He's shown nothing so far to say he's better than Frerotte. Maybe he is, but hasn't shown it yet. Plus, you have no idea whether he would be a better fit in Linehan's system.

i dont know if im content with frerotte his lack of accuracy will be a huge problem... but its really not enough time to bring in a new guy and expect him to play this year... and the giants would be interested for a backup role, palmer hasnt looked so good so far this preseason and tim hasselbeck is more like a 3rd stringer..

He had nothing on his passes with GB, I know he was hurt, but he just had nothing. It couldn't hurt, who knows, maybe he can be a decent backup.

I'd say he's worth a look, as long as the Finheaven faithful don't expect him to start if he has a good outing against 4th and 5th stringers in one of the last 3 preseason games.
