Adam Schefter on Couch

Am I the only one that is fairly content with Ferotte this year? With the weapons around him and an improved OLine, I think Ferotte will do well. Last year at least 4-6 of our losses were due to our QB throwing a int for a touchdown. Ferotte will not make those types of mistakes. With a very much improved running game, our QB play will benifit tremendously from this. I'm ok with bringing in guys to develop, but I'm OK with Ferotte this year.

I'm Guessing the thinking would go something like this..............

If we feel Feeley doesn't have the goods, bring Couch in, let him backup Frerotte and learn and lets see if he can solve our future QB problems.

If Saban has concluded that Feeley isn't it, he would have a year to observe Couch before he would have to make a decision on drafting a QB high in the 2006 draft or not.

Makes sense to me.

On NFL Total Access, Schefter stated that the Dolphins and Giants are very interested in Couch. There wasn't much more to it than that. .
Actually what he said was "At some point the Dolphins are interested"

Which means it is nothing more than a passing interest.

The word "Very" was never brought up for Miami.

I know there are already three threads, but I saw nothing about this..
It was only at the top of one of the threads. :D

I may be wrong but in Cleveland I seem to remember Couch having a tough time getting vertical, and when Kelly Holcombe came in for him he threw for like a million yards because he kept throwing deep to their receivers. If that was a result of the shoulder injury sapping his arm strength, that is one thing. But if that is the kind of quarterback Couch is, Miami probably will not be interested in him.

I dont think by them bringing Couch in here they are looking for an answer this yeah. He isnt really going to have time to learn the playbook and get snaps to be comfortable enough to be effective this year. He may be a backup half way through the season and compete next year for the starting job.

If his shoulder is healed completely then I say he is worth a very good look, he was a very good passer in college. Hopefully he is just somebody that has gotten a couple bad breaks and comes he and shows why he was drafted #1.

That is assuming that we pick him up, which I dont think we will.

How do we know if he is a better option than Gus? Maybe than Feel Me for sure, but Gus has looked good and made the pro bowl before. Actually, Gus reminds me of a top quality backup, who is starting. I think Gus is better than Fumbler, at least he can throw the deep pass.

If Couch has anything in that arm, he is worth a shot. A first round draft choice taken over both Culpepper and Mcnabb, must have or has some talent. And IM sure there is a possibility that the arm problem just compunded the problems he was having to begin with.

Look, the guy is still young and worth taking a look at. Who are we to say he isnt, if NIck thinks so?

So is it his constant under and overthrows that has you convinced that he throws the better deep ball.

He is very much identical to Fiedler on the deep ball.

I am not knocking Frerotte, just stating that as of now he has been very inaccurate and rather pathetic on the long ball.

This is why I am excited that he has 3 weeks to get chemistry and work on it with the 1st team. He definitely has zip on the passes.

I actually think that Fiedler was more accurate with the long ball, but Frerotte has a stronger arm and more zip on the pass. So if you combined the 2 long balls you would have a perfect pass lol.

Couch is definitely worth a shot. I mean I don't expect much from him, but he could have been utilized wrong plus he never had talent around him. I think Couch was a scapegoat.

Though he stunk in GB, but he was injured right?

Though initially vague, I meant that I didn't see anything about this in the titles. Also, Adam Schecter did say something along the lines of "Miami and New York seem to be VERY interested.......yackity schmackity," on NFL Total Access. I honestly wasn't paying too much attention because it hit me by surprise, so you can pull the BS card on me if you decide to watch the re-run from this morning.

Unless we are talking about two different reports.

The only time he brought Miami up was when he said "At some point the Dolphins are interested" I believe he did say the Giants were very interested,

Relax, just busting your balls. Was not meant to upset you, that is why I put the smiley face after my comment.

It's cool. I took no offense, but decided to give you my POV. I rarely post here, and was a member of Finzone before the merge, so I'm on here daily. But decided to post this because I didn't see anything on it. *extends hand for shake*

Gus has looked good? Yeah all them overthrows were really impressive. He is better than AJ right now solely because AJ cant get the deer in headlights look off hius face whileunder pressure. But Gus has not looked stellar.

Couch is worth a look but at this point it is a look for teh future, he hasnt played in over a year, has arm problems that may or may not be chronic. He doesnt come in as a savior.

Exactly.
Couch probably has more potential than anyone on our roster. He is a long shot, w/o a doubt. But, worth the small gamble.

I'm not a Couch fan, but he's a better option than Feeley or Ferotte

Are you kidding me? He makes AJ look like Marino.

I am comfortable with Frerotte. I like sage and I am getting a feel for Berlin. I wouldnt mind seeing couch. And I think 99% of us think we should trade Feeley
