Ajayi had been "confrontational" with his coaches over the last two weeks or so. First he pouts over getting benched last year and then left home...(rightly so). The guy has never struck me as mature and I have no reason to doubt Gase who said he was not learning the offense. What else do you do as a head coach? Let a disgruntled player with a bad attitude run your locker room? Yell at the bosses?

He steamrolled some teams last year and padded his stats with those 200 yard games (against some struggling defenses) but outside of those 3 games, what did he do? He averaged 49.8 yards a game and had (1) 100 yard game. The Bills, who Ajayi had two of those games against were the 29th ranked rushing defense. He has also appeared on the injury report several times this year with knee issues. For a guy with a degenerative condition, that's not a good sign for the future.

Drake was a 3rd round pick. Ajayi a 5th. Time for the youngin to step up!
Have you noticed the Steelers wr situation? this is nothing.
Last year he was right, although he handled it badly.
This year, who can blame him?

If players refuse to do as the coaching staff asks them, what is the coaching staff supposed to do? Sprinkle fairy dust to get them to become receptive to coaching? He tried working with the guy for a year and a half. At some point, maybe you have to blame the player for being an uncoachable turd?

Based upon the on field production there's a crap load of uncoachable turds. Maybe just maybe it's the messenger, this team has a winning record for now despite of the coach. Lastly players are uncoachable but his coaches getting high at the team facilities needed to be reported by a stripper, seems eerily like phailbin and not knowing what was going on in the locker room situation. #overhishead

So much vitriol in this thread...

So many "fans" jumping ship...

Look, I'm also sad to see Ajayi go but big picture is that this season is a wash and we need to rebuild on offense in many spots. I like that Gase is sending a message. I don't like that we have a rather incompetent GM making important personnel decisions.

Just saw Darlington interviewed on ESPN.........it seems that Ajayi's knee is supposedly more of a concern than anyone has mentioned. The thought being is that he doesn't have a lot of playing time left on it and it is "bone on bone" at this point. Could be true or could be a Dolphins FO member trying to lessen criticism of the trade but it adds another piece to why trade may have happened.

I think he is injured. Last game it looked like his left knee was bothering him when he got up after a run. Not sure, which knee it is that is degenerative, but when I saw that I thought we might not have him active much longer. I didn't think we would trade him though.

Look at the brightside guys, all we need is another 3rd and we can get ourselves another Carroo next year...

He can't be that injured or he won't pass a physical.

You've got to keep in mind that Ajayi has a knee condition that is going to limit his career. I'm surprised we got a 4th rounder for him.
I have more of an issue that we do not have a replacement

I wonder how Tannehill regrets not having the surgery last season? When he comes back he will have lost his best RB and be unable to sign Landry because they spent the money on Cutler, and we are still tied to the hip (literally) with MikeInjured Pouncey, and Tannenbaums solution to it all will be Caroo and a 4th round pick.

Win.

Sounds like a great contract year Ryan!

I thought the theme this off season was that the offense was stacked and we need to rebuild on defense in many spots.

Now that I read Armando's article about Ajayi's piss poor attitude I am glad he is gone. I was shocked at first because I didn't know he was such a problem in the locker room. I have been harping all morning long about getting rid of guys who aren't giving it their best if after they have been given a chance to improve they don't or won't. I didn't know he wasn't doing his homework and not properly preparing himself leading into games. Now that I do, C Ya.

I'm willing to give this trade time. Not going to lose the plot over this in the short term. I trust in Gase, and I like that he's giving the message that this is his team, and it's his way or the highway. Maybe this is also being used to give Landry (amongst others) a kick in the backside, start studying more, start fulfilling the assignments you're told to do. I guess we just don't fully know what is going on in the background, nor will we ever.

I do think a 4th round pick seems relatively cheap. But, if his knees are as bad as supposedly they're thinking, then maybe it all makes sense.

Time will tell.
