Alex Smith to visit Miami.

I don't know, I watched that Giants playoff game and Smith did not look good AT ALL. He looked real bad outside of two big plays to Vernon Davis. Maybe if we can bring Vernon Davis with him? Sure.

Well I still think he's improving and making strides. It just intrigues me. He's had a tough go with different coaches and OCs every year.

I still want Flynn. I think he can be pretty good in Philbin's offense of course.

More of my money on tickets. I don't see any reason to invest in a mediocre QB to compete with the mediocre QB we already have, especially when it will require signing said mediocre QB to a multi-year contract. If we're going to go into next season with the hopes that one of these mediocre QBs will magically raise past their already apparent ceilings, I'd rather go in with Moore since we can dump him easily after next season and draft one of the several good QBs coming out in next years draft (unlike this years, outside of Luck of course).

I think 3yrs for Smith is fair, if the light came on like I suspect the initial deal is friendly and gives us time to extend it. If not you still aren't hurry that bad to dump him. But if we can't land Smith I agree roll with Moore! Flynn does nothing for me and because Luck and RGIII are spoken for Tannehill is sky rocketing like he is Blame Gabbert or something!

it tells me that the qb who was drafted 1st overall to give san fran its franchise qb that they had been looking for since joe montana and steve young, failed miserably, and although the coaches got fired for it, smith deff had to play a part in it also due to his performance. a coach can only do so much.

1 oc getting fired? ok. 2? a little weird, but ok. 3? u got to look at the player. 4, 5, 6, 7? im sorry, smith is a major part of the problem also.

i can guarantee u if aaron rodgers, drew brees, tom brady, big ben, manning ( both) romo, etc were there, there would not have been 7 different ocs in 7 seasons
tell me you can't see the correlation of having a consistant QB is also dependant on having a consistant OC.

People, you have to remember, Philbin was not the guy who drafted Matt Flynn. Just because Flynn played in Green Bay doesn't mean that Philbin is sold on his ability to be a full time starter. It could just be reality that Philbin doesn't think highly of Flynn as a starting QB, therefore we bring in Alex Smith for a look-see. If Alex Smith could play often like he did in that drive against the Saints then he'd be a good choice.

I'd argue that Matt Moore's light came on as well and shone far brighter than Smith's when it did. I still think he's a great backup/transitional starter, but he's a better QB than Alex Smith. I'd rather stick with him and if he continues to improve next year and moves up from just a transitional starter, then awesome. If not, it's far easier to move on quickly rather than wait 3 years to see if Smith can improve on that big 17 TD season after 5 years of 51 TDs to 53 INTs.

maybe u didnt read what i was saying.

everyone is quick to point out how many ocs alex smith had in his first 7 years. maybe if he would have performed at an elite level like he was supposed to being the 1st overall pick, he would not have had many different ocs. they were the fall guys for him, u cant tell me 7 ocs san fran brought in just stunk it up. alex smiths poor play was part of the reason as to why so many ocs came in and out.

alex smith is mediocre and thats it. i dont mind him, i think hes decent, but hes far from elite, and if that is our ''upgrade'' to matt moore, that is just bringing someone in to say we made a change, not doing it for the sake of an upgrade, because u cant tell me he is a real legit upgrade from moore.

I'm not a Flynn lover like most on this board, but I'd much rather see what he can do than even bring Alex Smith in for a visit.

as good as Moore was at times, there were also times where he was extremely late on reads or just missed easy reads (the first Jet game comes to mind).

I agree with you, a lot of times actually. I don't want the FO to have an anyone but Moore attitude about this thing. Bring in Flynn or Smith but pay them in such a way that either would come in and compete with Moore. If they don't like it See You! I want Moore's replacement go be a clear cut upgrade. Nobody can say that about either of these guys they're willing to take a chance with. To me the worst approach in the world is "he can't be any worse.". That's a losing mentality.

Moore has a extremely limited arm most people miss that. Just watching that Bess td pass against New England gave me a noise bleed just watching it the thing hung forever, he just had to put that much air under it to get it there.

That's exactly how I feel about Flynn, except I dont want Flynn on the Phins

I'm of the opposite opinion, I don't want either Flynn or Smith, but If I had to choose one, I would much rather have Smith over Flynn based on the simple fact that Smith has playoff experience

Well if we are playing hard ball with Flynn it might work or not he might sign with seattle. If thats the case No Flynn then i hope they sign Alex Smith today..... This is getting crazy tho...
