Alex Smith to visit Miami.

Like i said a team that hard up for talent, this is a good move looking under every rock.

Moore has a extremely limited arm most people miss that. Just watching that Bess td pass against New England gave me a noise bleed just watching it the thing hung forever, he just had to put that much air under it to get it there.

If you watched the 2011 fins, you realize this but doesn't the same apply for Flynn? Also didn't we hVe many more big plays when we switched from big time NFL arm Chad Henne to Matt Moore?

One of Flynn's biggest drawbacks to me is his size...6'2" Alex Smith is 6'4" Also, do not forget that in the WCO it is good if the QB can run with the ball and Smith does have good foot speed. Hey, it took him a while but he has proven to be a very competent QB in a West Coast offense. One thing for sure...Matt Moore is not a West Coast QB. At this point I'm all in for Alex Smith!

Whooeee ... Alex Smith?? .... Holy Turds-a-poppin batman!! He'll ensure a high draft pick every year!!

Live in the Bay Area ... he emptied out the stadium ... got several coaches fired ... even emptied out the Sports Bars for the last few years.

I think its leverage ... but if we don't sign Flynn ... suppose Smith is as good a backup as any.

Pissy little personality too!! ... Big Talk/No Walk a la Sancheez!!

Don't know if this has been suggested but they may be interested in signing 2 west coast qb's and trying to deal Moore for a low rounder. I don't really think this is the case, but if so what do you think we could get for Moore?

He wasn't the reason they got fired. Stop being so dramatic. Sports bars weren't cleared out either. You have no idea what you're talking about.

About a 5th-6th rounder ... & a descent into the dregs not seen since Cam Cameron.

as good as Moore was at times, there were also times where he was extremely late on reads or just missed easy reads (the first Jet game comes to mind).
Yes, I know, I watched the games. I haven't exactly been a proponent of going into the season with Matt Moore as the starting QB, but compared to Smith, Flynn, and now apparently Garrard, I don't see much of an improvement to be made with any of the others over the mediocre QB we already have. And the first 2 come with longer, more expensive contracts. No thanks. If we're getting another year of mediocrity at the most important position in football, I'd just as soon save the cash to invest in the other holes Ireland created and get one of the better prospect QBs in next year's draft. If Matt Moore takes it to the next level, awesome, we won't need to. If he continues to be a mediocre starter, we won't be stuck with him for years.

However, if I have to chose between the 3 FAs, I'd go with Flynn because he doesn't have 6 years of bad to mediocre play to judge him by, unlike Smith and Garrard (8 years on him) and we won't have to listen to the excuses of "he had to learn the playbook."

I dont care anymore i just want it to end...................

A contraire moi frere ... I'm out there every Sunday & the Sports bars are devoid of 9ers & Raiders fans.

Bad QB play produced bad records ... and pop went the Nolan, & Singletary!! Even though though those 2 built a decent team & evidenced by last years play. Of course Smith not the only cause ... but the BIG cause!! ... very similar to Henne.

you know, looking Alex Smith's career stats, the last 3 years he's gotten better. Heck even when he was in his first few years, he was improving before that collarbone injury that required 2 surgeries because the doctor messed up.

Smith looked decent in Harbaugh's version of the West Coast Offense last year, and honestly probably could have had even better stats if A)Harbaugh wasn't a power running coach and B)His WRs were more consistent/big play guys (there is a reason they signed Randy Moss and Mario Manningham)

Now Smith probably wouldn't be a franchise changer, but he'd be a good guy to hold the fort down.

Agreed. All Harbaugh has done is tweaked/modernized Bo Schembechler's offensive philosophy.

Smith IMO > Flynn.

Alex is smart. He graduated in 2 yrs (Economics) and started work on his Masters (Econ) before getting drafted. The shortcoming of many smart people is the tendency to succumb to paralysis by over analysis i.e. think too much. The constant changes in coaches & philosophy did not help. Urban Meyer was his coach @ Utah & the transition from that scheme to the NFL takes time.

Interesting bit of trivia about Alex. The Eccles School of Business wanted to Alex to get an MBA. To which, he said No Thanks.

I think it's definately a leverage play by both Smith and the Dolphins. However, I have been partial to Alex Smith over the years. I would gladly welcome him to Miami. I think the WCO that Philbin and Sherman run could be a really good fit for him.

My exact thoughts. It looks they are applying leverage to Flynn. I wonder how much the kid is asking for?

The issue I have is if the leverage fails and Flynn's gets pissed or simply signs some where else, are they willing to actually sign Smith, for prob more money than what Flynn is asking for right now?

I kinda like Alex Smith only if he plays like he did last year tho. It seems we are almost moving on from Flynn... This should be interesting how it all plays out. But wow Peyton rocked the league by taking his sweet cheek time. Will see what happens.

LOL, of course it was bad QB play, it had nothing to do with Singletary failing to make adjustments, using the wrong personnel, etc. Ditto for Nolan. Blame Smith all you want, but you had Singletary hook his wagon to Shaun Hill and JT O'Sullivan. How is that Alex Smith's fault?

Maybe the one bar you go to is on some sort of decline, but that can be for a myriad of other reasons other than "OMG the 9ers suck!". Most places actually are getti

dont think for a second this has not been discussed. Reason being is Moore has a larger body of work to look at on film and with success. Smith could be perceived as an upgrade and we get another pick in the draft and we draft our future qb in 2nd round.
