Did i once ever say any of that? Rebounds aren't the only thing they look at they also look at steals and blocks.

Kidd's defense is not displayed in stats...he anchors the whole team D, can not be compared to Wade?!? Shut down nash 0 points, chauncey 9 pts....

Since the NBA takes it as one of the top stats when consider the defensive team? Hint the term defensive rebounds
The coaches vote for the defensive teams. Or in reality their secretaries son or whoever else they pawn it off to does the voting. I highly doubt they consider the number of rebounds a player gets when trying to determine how well they play defensively.

Obviously you don't know much about basketball if you are saying that you don't care about gaurds rebounding....If you don't have good rebounding gaurds then i garentee your team will get killed on the boards.

So why is it that the teams with the best rebounding guard tandems are the worst rebounding teams in the league? There is a difference between being a good rebounding guard and one who gets a lot of rebounds.

So thats why Bruce Bowen made in on the first team all nba defensive team. It was those gaudy stats he put up. 3.9 rebounds, .96 steals, .37 blocks per. Thank goodness there are still some people that realize that stats are entirely meaningless when determining a players defensive prowess.

Where are you getting your stats? http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/stats/byposition?pos=PG,SG,G,GF

Don't question what is right and what is wrong. #'s don't lie. I don't care what your opinion is, stats show what defenders do. When a player shuts down the top PG's on a repeated basis, he deserves NBA first team.

NBA.com

You know..the league web site. The numbers are there.

The list is a fraud.

No Gerald Wallace?

No Dwayne Wade?

Jason Kidd?

Wade had more steals than Kidd and was among league leaders in blocks for guards...

I know you Nets fans like Jason Kidd...he is one of my favorites too. BUT come on..he can't guard quick guards anymore..Jason Williams dribbles past him at will.

If you are going to bention one or two or three games...then I will mention two words: ANTHONY JOHNSON.
Your kidding right. Wade is not a great defensive player. In fact he gets ripped alot even in the Miami media about not playing Defense. He was getting blasted after the first NETS game about not playing D

You know whats funny is I would take the Pistons starting five over that team any day of the week. There five starters are just as good as the ALL Defensive team. I am talking from a Defensive stand point.

They may play better as a team but they're not as good of individual defenders as the guys who made the 1st team. Rip Hamilton isn't close to the defender that Bruce Bowen is and while Tayshaun is a good defensive player he's not as good as Bowen either.

You don't know what you are talking about.

Check his numbers..and check his 2nd team ALL NBA defense last year.

Again. You don't know what you are talking about.

Please have a clue about something you are gonna post about. PLEASE.

Bowen is entirely different. Bowen is a proven defensive specialist (a dirty one but a proven one). His job is to go out and stop the oppisitions best player from getting to the basket. Players like that u don't look at thier stats because thier main reason thier in the league is because of thier defense. (and i'm not the one that said to resort to stats)

Chauncey Billups missed just about every wide open shot that night.

I remember watching that game on ESPN - don't credit Kidd for Billups' poor shooting night. I saw the same thing with Steve Nash. He was defended even better last night by Cassell & Livingston than Kidd when he got shut down. Stop talking about,
"oh, well so & so shut __________ down to __________ points." - NBA players do have poor shooting nights, ya know?

I don't know why J-Will doesn't attack the basket more in this series. Every time he attempts, he KILLS Jason Kidd off the dribble. It's almost embarrassing to call that guy 1st Team All-NBA Defense. He may of been years ago, but he's lost a step and it's evident.

So everyone but Bowen is determined to be a great defensive player based on how many rebounds/blocks/steals they get?

Because it's one of the three main stats they look at. (rebounds, blocks, steals)

And I have still yet to figure out to whom you are referring to as "they."

hmmmm the voters....That's my guess that they look at those three because in the article they keep talking about rebounds, blocks and steals. And they'd obviously have to vote based on some stats because they can't see every single game that player has played so what else is there to refer to?

Well obviously they dont because if stats had anything to do with the selection the Wallace with his gaudy numbers would easily be on the first team: 7.5 boards, 2.51 steals, 2.09 blocks per.

There is a reason these teams are such a joke. Just like the coaches poll in college there probably isnt one coach who has any clue who he voted for. These people have better things to do. The players named to the all whatever teams are there because of name recognition, nothing more.
