You didnt even get to see them play. Maybe payton in the twilight of his career. How can you make such a statment?

im a die hard fan and my dad has all videos of them hes a bear fan soo pleaseee i saw them more than u ever did

My list goes like this:

1 Barry Sanders
2 Jim Brown
3 Bo Jackson
4 Eric Dickerson
5 OJ Simpson

Awsi - I remember Marcus Dupree, and he was really something special. Unfortunately, knee injuries and the USFL ruined him. Another player of similar stature was Mike Gaddis of Oklahoma.

A list:

1. Jim Brown
2. Walter Payton
3. Barry Sanders

Earl the pearl was great too, as was Sayers, and truthfully, Dickerson was also great.

Barry Sanders would be my choice.

NFL Highlights:
• 15,269 career rushing yards
• 109 career touchdowns (99 rushing, 10 receiving)
• 76 100-yard rushing games
• 10 consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons (1989-1998)
• Tied NFL record for total 1,000-yard rushing seasons
• NFC Rookie of Year (1988)
• 2-time NFL Player of Year (1991,97)
• 10-time Pro Bowl selection (1989-1998)
• Five-time NFC rushing leader (1989,90,94,96,97)
• Four-time NFL rushing leader (1990,94,96,97)
• Set NFL single-season records for most 100-yard rushing games and most consecutive 100-yard games (14 in 1997)
• Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame (2004)

Agreed, there is never been a back who could do what Sanders did every single week. People held their breath when he had the ball, heck I do not even recall if he ever missed a game.

Second Place: Earl Campbell, simply the strongest natural RB I ever watched play the game.

Earl Campbell and Jim Brown were the most physically dominant RB's. Defenders feared them.
Barry Sanders was the shiftiest and fastest, but he didn't instill mortal fear into his opponents.

no brainer except order.
1. JIM BROWN
2. JHON RIGGINS
3. O.J. Simpson
4.Ricky Williams yea I'm sick of his name but If you want a back thats gonna run over and through a D and to hit a deffender harder than he was gonna get hit then these are your guys. with honorable mentions 2 Bo and berry sorry fellas u were good even great but I want punishers.

Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith. It's to bad we can't access NFL films They have done shows on all of these guys and they would be worth owning.

I'd have to say 2. These for me are the best IMO to ever play the game they certainly have to be the best

1. Walter Payton
2. Gale Sayers

these are the best backs Chicago had and in my eyes the best and Cedric follows these 2 backs as the best in Bear history and in the NFL

barry sanders...

he didnt install mortal fear. Thats why every team stacked the box and added a safety to stop him...

Barry had this quality that I could never believe he had done what he just did, he had to have been tackled, but no, he was up and running and gaining 50 yards, he was just mindboggling, so fun to watch.... I guess i should say BArry

The NFL's career rushing touchdowns leader with 155, Emmitt scored 100 career touchdowns during his first 6 NFL seasons, which was the fastest any player in league history has reached that mark.

I guess he was padding stats here too. Jim Brown probably has this record too, but for some reason it is in the nfl record books as Emmitt's. It must just be some kind of mistake.

Well to be honest .. the first 6 seasons isnt really a landmark area that is cut and dry. I mean if you want to get picky then you have to take into consideration that Emmit's first 6 seasons (playoffs and SB's not included) had 96 games where as Jim Brown's first 6 seasons included only 76 games because the schedules werent as long when he played. So however you look at it Jim should be given 8 and a half seasons in comparison.

Now to argue about him not performing as well in his later years and how much the talent around him helped him ... he got 100 of his 155 Career in his first 6 seasons, where he only got 55 in his last 8.

E.Smith had the ability to find a crease or crack even when the D was stacked against the run.You would see him run and think to yourself he didnt get anything only to find out he moved the yardsticks 4-5 yrds.

That is because his line was 3 to 4 yards down the field before the defense could tackle him for what seemed like a 1 yard gane.
