You know what? He could be 10, over Thurmal. I left him out because of his very short career, but in that short time he was great.

MikeO said:I so disagree on that. Emmitt was one of the biggest money players in NFL history. When the chips were down, Emmit showed up big!

There should be an asterisk next to his name. that he quit on his team. So votes for him wouldn't count.Omaha_Dolfan said:Now that would be an interesting thread. Especially the first time someone mentioned Ricky Williams
Ozzy said:One of the best ever, no doubt, but I think I put 5 names up over him that are very possible.
Yes Emmitt is the all time leader, yes he was very tough, and even more so, he was very very durable. Here is another yes though, the YES that he had one of the best Offensive lines in NFL History.......No?
You put a Barry Sanders behind that same line, and wow. Put any of my top 5 runners behind that line, and IMO they top Emmitts stats.
Personally I think Dorsett was the best Cowboy runner, who also might have topped his stats behind that line.
Doktor Ivel said:emmit smith and Barry sanders played behind a pro bowl line, but the Lions team sucked overall, and the cowboys were the ****.
MikeO said:Barry Sanders did play behind a pro bowl offensive line. He had 2 or 3 pro bowlers in Detroit on that line. It's a myth that Sanders ran behind nobody.
