Another Tannehill Article? By.. Brady Quinn???

Its the combination of Trusnick and Wilson that is the killer. If you have a good safety and poor LB or vise versa you might be able to get away with it. But having crap at safety and crap LBers is a disastrous situation.

I dont think Coyle is the real problem. Are there better DCs out there? Definitely. But his coverages have always had to compassionate for a very weak LB unit. We gave up only 7 passes to WRs last week. We got beat in the passing game by guys that line up between the hashes. We have one of the worst LB units in the league, and even with a good secondary and DL, you are only as good as your weakest link on defense.

I am of the opinion he had a large say in these lb signings...especially for the blitz packages he wants to work...he got athletes but he got not an ounce of instincts...always a mistake with lbs

I dont know how involved he was with the LB signings, and seeing what a know-it-all Jeff Ireland was, I'd say that Coyle was probably forced to take those LBs. Even if he wanted those LBs, he wasnt the one who gave them so much guaranteed money that it made it impossible to release them.

That's true..,but he looks really dumb to me for having trusnick on the field in the sub...teams will scheme to destroy that...and it's not like it's a we cant sub him out cause teams are going fast thing yet...although I'm sure that's coming soon...teams playing fast vs our d

Exotic was mostly doube a gap blitzes which teams figured out and we got gashed on by the screen game...he showed his blitz hand way too much last year and absolutely should have had a lean dion jordan coming thru gaps and looping inside in the sub

Sprinkled in some slot blitzes on the backside against qbs that lacked awareness but we always showed them too damn early presnap

THe worst was when he had Ellerbe and Wheeler press the LOS before snap. It was ridiculous. I could tell everytime they were bluffing or going to blitz.

They would then try to do some moronic false steps backwards then blitz. Wheeler did this all the time.

Meanwhile wv Is in the start Moore thread talking about how great a team we'd have if the qb play was better....one with a 27th ranked scoring d and horrid special teams so far

Figures that it's all on the qb with him

We would be better if Tannenhill actually just took what the defense gave him sometimes. But we also need the defense to play much better. Jimmy Wilson is one of the worst tacklers.
He's hitting Cameron Worrell level.

Walt Aikens looks like garbage on ST. On top of looking like garbage on defense. Him and Jimmy
Wilson would make the two worst tacklers in the NFL

The adjustment Tannehill has had to make this season is more significant than anyone who has not been in a football (much less an NFL) huddle can understand. He now has to speak a different language. The play-calls may look the same, but they're communicated in a different fashion. The rhythm, timing and philosophy of the off-season is vastly different than what the Dolphins were running in 2012-2013. It takes time for a new offense to marinate and become second nature. Once a quarterback has an offense down, it frees him to play without thinking. An offseason and three games into a season is not enough time for any quarterback to have a system engrained in his mind. And all of this only takes into account the adjustments that a quarterback has to make, not the ten other positions on offense.

- Brady Quinn for the wuinn.

Good article, thanks for posting.

Has a bit more accuracy to it when you consider how the Giants looked the first two weeks in a new offense and then it "clicked" and they have looked pretty good these last two weeks.

Be interesting to see what happens today.

Because he's played and knows the team, on one hand you can't ignore his perspective. However to be fair it's also like Matt Ryan writing an article about how not to choke in the postseason. Then again often the best "teachers" having that outsider perspective were not necessarily among the better "doers" :idk:

Coming from a guy..., who has never thrown a pigskin in a meaningful game. This comment is about your own personal experience... :rolleyes2

Says the man who also has never played a down of pigskin in his life. But of course your opinion has more weight right? :chuckle:

How many interceptions did Quinn throw to that defense he's blasting? And again, how many offenses did Quinn master in the NFL? He couldn't even adjust in 3 years in Cleveland. He's the worst person to be delivering the kind of message he did in that article and his Rodgers-esque "chill" comment made me LULZ.

well written and on point! again.. Foles and the Eagles didn't click until Wk9 last season... takes time under live fire... not just 17 is 'thinking offense' out there; drops/misfires come from self-correcting while interpreting... when the system is fully digested, we'll see them play faster and better #finsup
