Are you ok with Martin returning to the team?

I have an opposing view.

Let's assume he isn't going to start. Putting him in that locker room will tell you who you want on your team long term.

Anyone who makes him feel unwelcome is unwelcome, IMO.

Say what you will about him being a quitter or soft. I respect the guy for fighting back. It may not be how I would have done it, but he did it.

There are a lot of guys saying "how do you bully a 350lb man." What I am starting to believe is that he was willing to take some of it because he thought it was normal. At some point, it started to get over the top and he didn't know how to deal with it until he had enough and blew up.

I don't believe a word of the mental issues and suicide attempts. It's coming from Richie's camp, and he has been proven a liar in the past 48 hours. I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the Stanford educated kid that is considered too cerebral. Furthermore, Richie calling anyone mentally unstable is a joke. Pot this is the kettle....

No.

A) He's bad.
B) Even if he's not soft/a quitter, the rumors will always be out about him and that will affect the chemistry of those playing with him. Fair or not, it is what it is.

No. He's clearly too precious. If this was an accountancy firm then absolutely id have full sympathy but this is pro sports where mental toughness and self confidence are paramount. I wish him well but he is clearly in the wrong game AND he snitched to Adam Schefter so forget it as far as an NFL career goes. No player on any team would trust him.

While I may have handled the problem differently, I cannot fault him for wanting to come to work and simply concentrate on doing his best. Everyone handles certain situation differently. Put yourself in his shoes. The kids grew up with both parents as lawyers and he attended Stanford. Martin has probably never dealt with someone like this or anything close. He probably has never had distractions like this. If you grew up without distractions, without threats of any kind, how would you react? He focused on his goal and achieved them to date. He is not wired like a kid from the inner city. If he was from the inner city, he probably would have been able to clear it out of his mind since there are MANY distractions and threats growing up in that environment. And he probably would have addressed incognito with aggression rather than walking away.

So yes I would welcome him back. Let's see what the kid can contribute without this scumbag in his ear intimidating him and threatening his family.

No wonder he played like $#@$. The people in front of him we're playing against as well as the people next to him.

ill give him the benefit of the doubt. Its possible that the harassment he received from incognito affected his development as a player. On the other hand, i dont know if he'll want to come back to this team especially since pouncey played a minor role in the harassment.

Nope......draft 4-5 offensive lineman next year....get rid of the bad apples from the players to the front office and coaches.

Wow....between people saying the same joke over and over again and those, that somehow support Incognito....wow

Why not...

This is a league that welcomed back rapist, sex offenders, drug addicts, spousal abusers, murderers and yet Martin shouldn't be welcome back...I am amazed by the thinking of some on this forum

Ask the locker room if they want him back. What Martin did strikes those in the locker room more than those outside. And if those players thought he was soft before, what do you think they think now?

Let him finish the season on the quitters list and move on. He is not a dominate LT or RT, and has shown the ability to quit on the other 51 (minus Incog) players in the locker room. He has also showed the ability to not be trusted in said locker room.

Well said man. I share this same opinion.

No.. he didn't deserve the way he was treated, but that doesn't take away the impression he's not cut out for macho football trench play, if Richie sr is right, he's mentally unhinged and suicidal, maybe dangerously so, and the revelation by Darlilngton to Rome that he participated in the same get up and leave trick on Gardner the previous week signals to me that he was waiting to make the most visible impactful exit in an interest to seed his retirement fund.

No ... he needs a new start somewhere else and we need cornfeds that can play.

He can 'learn and grow as a player' in NE or NYJ. Let them deal with the circus that will now follow his sub par play.

Martin wasn't man enough to go through the proper channels to air his grievances. Which shows his inability to think like a grown man and to handle situation better than slamming a lunch tray down and walking out of your place of work. You can berate people here you dislike, but sadly you are showing more balls than the 350lb LT who couldn't.

Well I more or less agree with you here. But we just don't know enough. We don't know what steps he took, if any. But if he didn't I agree that he obviously should have and it shows poor judgement if he didn't.

Lets not forget that Martin was a highly touted prospect. Some even had him in the 1st round. That doesn't mean hes good, obviously he needs a lot of work, but other teams will jump at him. He has good footwork and is good with his hands. Just lacks some physicality.

It's almost making me ill defending Martin as a player but the question from the OP was "Are you OK with martin returning?" and just to answer that questions. Yes I am.

...if Richie sr is right, he's mentally unhinged and suicidal, maybe dangerously so....

This bugs me.

What have either Richie or Richie Sr. done to warrant us believing a word they say? Seriously, Richie has mental issues. So we are to believe that HE is the normal one and the overly-cerebral Stanford grad (with literally no history of off or on field issues) is the crazy one?

down is up.
