Are you ok with Martin returning to the team?

side note: what was the movie where it opens with a running back pulling a gun and shooting defenders on the way to a score during a thunderstorm?

Random thought on the matter:

What if Martin's text to Incognito was honest? Seriously. What if Martin meant it when he said he was cool with Incognito and that the depression he's battling is not related to workplace bullying?

Could it be that Martin's parents are driving this ****storm?

I'm sure this thought will be swept away immediately in a hail of 'OMG INCOGNITO IS A HORRIBLE PSYCHOPATH' -- and I'm not exactly gonna shed any tears for Richie here, but... I can't help but think.

Don't worry about thinking. Think what the media tells you to think.

I call him a ***** because he couldn't do like every other player and handle his
business like a man. He's also a ***** because he dishes it out, but
he can't take it. It's ok to steal a teammate's car, but he's a victim when
someone uses some words against him.

Whatever.

Well, I definitely agree he could have handled this better, rather than making it a big scene. But I don't know if that makes him a *****. And those "words" that were used against him were rather harsh.

No, the mentally weak (Martin) have no place in football. If Cog said the things he said in txt and voice mail I don't want him back either. TWO wrongs don't make a right.

Opposing players are going to talk so much smack to him during games.

Get rid of the parroted line and your thinking ways can do no wrong.

No way. Personal issues aside, Martin is just another bust. The recent incident probably means that he has no trade value, so just cut our losses and let him go. Maybe he can start fresh somewhere else. Unfortunately, at this point, its probably going to require some kind of cash settlement in order to release him without a lawsuit or greviance , but it just needs to be done.

It makes total sense since they're savvy enough to realize Martin's career is likely over and the NFL has the deepest pockets around.

Ryan Leaf was a highly touted prospect himself. Now I believe he's in jail some where. The mental make up needed for the NFL is not for the meek.

Now, Martin may have graded out to some as a first round prospect, but the fact is he wasn't taken in the first round.

To me, I've seen enough of him to know the position was not a strength of this team.

The OP and others, myself included, don't matter in this situation. Its that locker room. You can take Martins side, but that locker room will have more say and rightly so. And frankly, I think more players will come out and not necessarily defend Incog, but will in no way speak positively of Martin. Unlike Ricky, Martin is not a quality NFL player.

Saving material for the media and walking out on your team, is not a great resume builder for other NFL franchises.

You think a room full of african americans are going to even slightly side with a guy that was calling a fellow african american a half nigga?

I'm pretty sure if they knew what Incog was saying that would've said something to him. So with that said, I think it's a good possibility they welcome him back not previously knowing what he was dealing with.

Never mind the team.

Personally, Martin's career is over. His average play will not out weigh the drama circus that will surround this kid for the life of his NFL career (if any). Basically labeled a snitch from this point forward that couldn't "man up" and handle his personal business. (Not that I agree with that thought process).

As others said, all of this is just to line up for a lawsuit, period.

That thought process is what separates us from that locker room.

Then they would be no better than Richie's dad in the matter. There is plenty of bad actions from numerous angles. At this point nothing would surprise me.

If my Aunt had a mustache, she would be my Uncle.

If we take the Incognitos at their word, then Richie was putting himself in a statistically more dangerous situation for either himself or JM.

Look, the Richie Sr "defense" last night was that JM is mentally unstable and wanted to kill himself. So, Richie then goes about his business by f-ing with the kid and using racial slurs?

We are talking about a macho culture where lots of guys have guns. It's not a great decision on Richie's part, if he really believes that JM is unstable and suicidal.

It's not purely hypothetical when you consider that.

You can think that. But I choose NOT to believe this was a isolated quiet case of hazing. I think those black players knew full well what was being said and done. And I choose to believe most thought the same of Martin.

You pulled a fantasy scenario out of your hat. Tin foil hat for others?

No, I feel for the guy and wish him the best ON ANOTHER TEAM. It would be a different argument if he was an pro bowl player but as it is he would be too big a distraction for his worth to the team. Nfl teams are not a charity they exist to win and make money, Martin would do neither for the Fins. Let him get a fresh start with another team, it would be better for all involved. Same for Ritchie, if a team picks him up next year that is their business, I would not want him back on the Fins either at this point.
