Absolutely not! All the Leinart huggers need to wake up, he's Ryan Leaf in disguise!

I just want them to play hard and be competitive and to show improvement as the year goes on.It's going to take more than 1 offseason to fix this team

True! As a fan, I can appreciate this view.

However, reality has to set in at some point, and what I am getting at is if and when math and reality dictate that performance with the win/loss record clearly demonstrates that playoffs are not an option, at that point do you accept it and hope/wish you have the #1 pick?

Never.

I would only to get a future qb thats good and will last his whole carrerr with miami.Like a franchise type of guy like tom brady

Thats a terrible example considering he was a 6th round pick.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I want to win and win every week!!!

We dont want a Ryan Leaf that is for sure and yes it could ruin our cap to have a bust QB

good thread idea...but NO! besides did you see what the first five drafts picks are getting these days. Getting too many top picks in a row is getting expensive these days. Too much $$, for too much risk. This isn't the early 90s anymore when you could blow a top pick every year (see cinn) and not pay for it.

I'd be willing to accept a losing season if we got a top 3 pick. Because honestly, this team has very little playoff aspirations, at best i can see them winning 8 games, which still is no playoffs. If they had a shot at the playoffs? Sure i'd want them to win, but maybe losing and getting top draft picks allows us to bring in some quality talent and hopefully just add on to what we have and become more successful next season.

Anyone's willingness is totally irrelevant. It's going to happen without anyone's willingness. We will not be competitive for at least another year. I want to win the SB as bad as the next guy, but there is no magic wand. Saban needs time and more talent to resurrect this team from the morass that Wanny built.

Ok, semantics, but agree its not in our control.

Appreciate your view and defense of it about time and talent. Glad to see you logically backed up your view.

Thats what I am thinking.

Would I love a SB = Yes!
Will it realistically be this year = NO
If no SB, then next best thing is playoffs, but is that realistic this year = NO
If no Playoffs, then I want a high draft pick Top 3.
And again, if we dont get #1 we still could be in a great position depending on the teams in front and their needs to secure the #1 QB, or best OL, etc. And I like the top talent in each round to select additional talent.

Just my 2 cents on the topic.....for now :D

Right, and that's what i want also. I mean yeah i'd love a super bowl, yeah i'd love playoffs. But beyond that i dont care, i dont want to go 8-8 and miss the playoffs, if we're going to miss the playoffs lets at least get a higher draft pick. Then we can hopefully cure one of our weakness and be better next year, and since we have no real playoff aspirations i'd rather go like 6-10, show some improvement miss the playoffs and still get a high, top 5, pick than go 8-8, miss the playoffs, show improvement and end up with the 17th overall pick.

I was just wondering how many of us would accept poor performance on the field like last year, since the outcome would provide top draft picks for future?

You think personal is the only thing that needs to be built up? Posed as a question of course so you don't have to say it is your stance. There are a lot more things that need to be built...attitude, teamwork, knowledge, toughness etc. etc. You don't give that up and instill a loser attitude for the sake of some unproven draft pick.

Yes, I think at the end of the day, PERSONNEL is what makes the difference on the field. Can our guys beat their guys. That's it in a nut shell.

Saban will provide and set the expectations for the right "attitude, knowledge, toughness, and teamwork" he expects and demands. Therefore he will succeed in getting the PERSONNEL that matches his expectations.

I think at this point Top Draft picks for one more year might do more good than harm in the long run (and therefore we as fans need to tolerate a less than stellar performance on the field).
