ARTICLE: Andre Johnson trade to Dolphins makes the most sense

would rather trade Gibson and Matthews and keep our draft picks, for andre. or maybe Gibson and Pouncey for andre and whoever they have as their starting center. only need an average guy in there anyway. :bobdole:

I'd take Chris Myers in a heartbeat, even at 32. Certainly not average and definitely a better person and team leader than Pouncey. This offense could use more veteran leadership and you'd be signing two. Then draft a mid-round Center to groom behind him and now you're talking.

get 'er done hickey!

 The Texans would NEVER make that trade.

What's funny is that they were proactive and already have Myers's eventual replacement in Ben Jones. They drafted him the same year they resigned Myers. Shockingly, neither required a 1st round pick or overpaying.

pretty sure ben jones is playing guard for the texans and a pretty ehhh one as i recall...myers is a different level from ben jones...or at least he has been

He will be playing guard this year, but was drafted as a center. That's the nice thing about making proactive moves like that. If he doesn't cut it, they still have time to take another shot at an eventual replacement for Myers. Keyword is "eventual." Most Phins fans don't understand it because we only draft for immediate, desperate need in most cases (Landry was a nice surprise).

unless i'm off he played guard in college also...as i recall ben jones was drafted as a guard also...either way myers is still a good center and would fit the scheme damn well...but houstons not gonna let that go when he still plays at that level

not even for a pro bowler and a top 3 center in the league? lol granted, he'll be missing the first part of the season.

Myers is a pro bowler and a key to their run offense, so no, not even for a top 3 center (Based on what? Considering you clearly don't know who Myers is, I'm wondering how you determine that.) in a contract year that he's going to miss half of and that they will have to drastically overpay next year if they want to keep. Sounds like a Dolphins move.

Wouldn't it make more sense to keep the pro bowl veteran that isn't a ****ing idiot off the field and that they are paying quite a bit less, see if Jones develops this year and if not, draft another center next year to be Myers's eventual replacement? It's not rocket science (well, apparently it is to our Phins).

I'm fairly certain it was Center the whole time, but I could be wrong.

And don't get me wrong, I would love to have Myers, but as you and I both said, it would NEVER happen. I was responding to true's sarcastic suggestion that we trade Pouncey for their "average" center.

from a shelf life aspect i wouldn't like it...myers still plays well and he's above average especially in our scheme but he doesnt have long left...probably 2 years

i didn't even pick up on the trade thing til just now...and i don't think financially it would work for us to take on andre and myers and only give back pouncey and gibson coming off of injury...gibbys trade value even for what he does for us isn't very high...be a late round value at best

more valuable to us than in a trade i'd say...for now at least...

but yeah i dont think houston would part with myers anyways...if i was gonna go to houston for something in trade it would be the tight end garrett graham

Ben Jones started 49 games at center for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Myers is making $5 million in 2014 and $6 million is 2015.

Pouncey is making just over $1.6 million in 2014 and just over $7.4 million in 2015.

He's old.

and according to most reports about pouncey's ability to play center, i'd say he's top 3. maybe that's too high. top 5.
