As bad as Fins fans can be, at least it is not as bad as Marlins fans

We all know the facts that while the Dolphins sell out games there are always empty seats. On top of that 30-40% of the fans that do go are rooting for the other team. It might be bad and embarrassing, but nothing matches what happened yesterday at the Marlins game. Granted the threat of Hurricane Irene made people not go, but check out the photos below during the game. The attendance was 347 fans. I am not missing a number, that was the grand total.

Stop the garbage with 40% oppossing fanbase at the games. I've been to plenty to see that isn't even close. You get more Jets/Pats, but really..? That much? No. Have you even had a chance to go to a game?

I can't explain the Marlin situation. I hate baseball.

A lot of people who don't know what they're talking about ITT.

FWIW the ticket sales for this game was about 22,500. Obviously that's way short of what hit the turnstyle. The primary reason for that is that the Marlins did a POOR job of getting word out about the time change for this one. Couple that with Hurricane Irene scaring people off into prep work at Home Depot...and you see the result.

Marlins fans are the same ****ty Dolphins fans.

Not sure why this is in the Miami Dolphins forum either.

:idk:

NEW STADIUM *******

We get 10 times that at AAA games for the Buffalo Bisons here. That is sad.

I bet you the line for the beer and bathrooms was fast though.

How can a professional organization operate with such a low attendance? 347 wouldn't even cover the cost of staging the game, let alone players and coaches wages.

That's easy. Revenue Sharing. It's also why teams like the Pirates who field the very minimum salary team every year still make a profit. What you're making from your own operation doesn't matter all that much when that big fat welfare check comes in.

You always hear the 'woe is me' from the small market teams when you compare them to the Yankees and Red Sox, but there is a reason that when it comes to CBA talks very few of the small market teams are for a salary cap. And that reason is that a salary cap would mean you also need a salary floor, and a salary floor would decimate the bottom lines of teams like the Pirates, the Marlins, the Royals, and so on.

In baseball, you can field the most garbage team and have no one show up and still turn a profit because the successful franchises are keeping you profitable. It is socialism at it's finest.

Luxury tax as well. It's ridiculous. Pisses me off being the baseball fan that I am. Baseball is my one true passion and it pains me to sit and watch that idiot Selig run the business the way he does. And as long as we have those "good ol' boys" in baseball, nothing will change. Baseball refuses to get with the times. The people in baseball are like my Grandparents. Still own a rotary phone. No call waiting. Don't own a computer. Struggle to figure out a cell phone.

People hate the Yankees but they need to understand that we need MORE teams and MORE owners like the Yankees and the Steinbrenner family.

I hear you, especially on that last part. I'm a huge baseball fan myself. It will be interesting to see what happens with the Dodgers. It's sad to see such a storied franchise go through that mess, but the rumors are that the "Good Ole Boys Club" you're talking about does not want someone like Mark Cuban coming and being another Steinbrenner. I guess we'll see.

they should just have one set of bleachers for every marlins game, put it in the outfield fill it up and then they could say the place sold out, and they might have a problem filling that up to.

Don't get me started on the Dodgers and Mark Cuban. That's one story that just makes my blood boil.

Here's a guy, Mark Cuban, who is a smart investor, has CASH money to buy the organization and does WHATEVER IT TAKES to ****ing win. The dude is RELENTLESS in his desire to ****ing WIN.

Bud Selig snubs his nose. In the meantime, he allows owners such as the Pirates owner, who made his fortune in small print newspapers...not even a big city gazette...but small town, small print papers. You might as well be selling screen doors for submarines. That **** isn't going to last and you've seen it. How many years have they suffered thru losing seasons? They lost 100 games last season. Now, granted this season, they've turned it around a bit and they've slumped ever since that ****ty call against Atlanta in that 19 inning game, but still...give me a ****ing break with this Cuban stuff.

They're afraid that Mark Cuban might run out on the field during a brawl, or yell obscenities at umpires, get tossed from games, and all of that jazz. Cuban would be GREAT for the game of baseball. How much would ticket sales for the Dodgers spike if Cuban took over? Wouldn't you watch more Dodger games just to see what Cuban is up to? I would...and the Mavericks beat the hell out of my Miami Heat. Doesn't stop me from loving Mark Cuban (no gay).

Bud Selig has been at the top of my "Five People I Want to Punch in the Face" list for a very long time. But right now, Nevin Shapiro sits at the top of that list. I'm sure Selig will earn his spot back soon enough though.

I agree, Selig needs to go. Your thoughts on Cuban in the MLB I 100% agree with.

Selig is anything but professional. I'm not a fan of McCourt and think he needs to go, but Selig was all over that case at the drop of a hat but basically looked the other way when it came to the NY Mets. You know your league is in trouble when the commisioner is playing favorites based on personal friendships. McCourt was in a nasty divorce and the Wilpons were buddies with one of the biggest swindlers in US history. What's the difference? Bud Selig is friends with the Wilpons. It's infuriating.

So what do you guys think of the Marlins rotation going into next season?

Think they should try and get a different closer? How much time is left on Nunez's contract? Id move him back to set up man if I had to keep him next season.

I'm pretty thankful they didn't have to tear down that Walgreens. That was my spot when the Orange Bowl was there. And Grove Mini Park was sandwiched between the Walgreens and Dolphin Expressway. Show up at Walgreens, buy beer, get ****faced and hit the slides with the kids at the park lol. Sun Life has **** around it. Bad neighborhoods, smelly *** Snake Creek, and a Wal-Mart for the poor people.

At least at the new stadium I get the Walgreens, Grove Mini Park, Cuban no-blockie parking (**** those parking decks), Latin music, DOMINOES, and Cuban food vendors on every corner fully equipped with chorizo, ropa vieja con moras y christianos, croquetas and empanadas!

When I lived in Miami, there wasn't a baseball team there. They always used to play Mets, Yankees, and Oriole games on TV. Their are more Mets fan in Miami, than Marlin fans.
