Assume Gus starts week 1

I've been waiting for it (great play from gus) to happen. I personally think AJ is the better of the two, however, I am very supportive of Gus. When he is in there, I cheer for him.

And he plays exactly the same way he did against the bucs, however, denver puts some points on the board. Say it is 14-7 at half time, does Gus get benched?

Remember, assume he does what he did against the bucs; over thrown passes, two passes that go to DBs and are almost INT and an actual INT.

Do you think Saban will bench Gus?

No. Coaches dont pull that **** in the first game of the season. That is a seriously bad question. I dont even know crappy teams that have ever done that to any Qb unless they established they were using 2 QB's which is very rarely done.

I think you misread my post.

I think AJ is the better of the two and Im hoping he becomes a pro bowl QB for us. This way we will be free to draft other positions next year (CB, DT, OL)

your hoping for way to much. He needs to correct some things. One is hanging on to the ball too long. He hasnt had to hang on long because he has dinked and dunked alot. The other it stop locking in on recievers. If you think he has corrected this, I say start him and you'll soon have your answere. The other thing is he needs to get serious about this whole thing and stop smiling on the sideline as if everything is all hunky dory when its not.

No, my question is if Gus goes out there and plays the same as he did against the bucs.

We shouldve KILLED the bucs, our OL controlled the LOS, our WRs got WIDE OPEN, our RB ran hard and effective. Our QB played very poorly. We shouldve been up by 2-3 TDs by half time against the bucs.

That is my point, if guys are getting WIDE OPEN and Gus isnt hitting them, do you just say "oh well" and stick with Gus? Hoping he eventually makes one of those plays?

Remember, denver can move the ball, they have some serious RBs and can make things happen on offense. If they start putting points on the board and we are missing out on easy TD passes and throwing silly INTs, we'll lose.

I know but we have to let the QB play though it, can't have them scare out there.

Thanks for your break down of what makes a successful QB. Someone tell 5 time pro bowler D. McNabb to also stop smiling on the sidelines...heh. Making the game "fun" and keeping everyone loose is a good thing in a QB. Farve and McNabb are both like that and it works. Even when McNabb has a bad game he remains loose, as to not get too down and make things even worse.

I see a different player than the one you described. AJ is better at reading the defense, moving the chains, and making reads.

its not reality. It never happens like that. If Gus takes us down the field for a 4 minute TD and scored on the first drive, I dont thing a coach in hell would ever even let such a thing enter his brain.

a five time pro bowler can smile all he wants. He has earned it. AJ Feeley will never ever sniff a PB and He plays on a current 4-12 team, not a SB contender.

He was behind a guy named Donovan McNabb, maybe you've heard of him? Then he was behind a guy who has spent his whole career in a West Coast scheme. Look, I'm not saying Feeley is going to be superstar, but he could be every bit as good as league average. All he did in Philly, when he started, was win games! We need to fairly evaluate him behind an OL that doesn't suck.

Saban brought in Gus and now Saban is looking to bring another guy and it won't be for the new guy to be 3rd string. Where exactly does that leave Feeley who is clearly NOT Sabans guy? Feeley will very likely not accept 3rd string again. Saban is not stupid and already knows this. Adios Feeley probably sooner rather than later. Use the money to grab Simon while you can.

So, you think, if Gus over throws WRs we should stick with him and lose the game?

Did you WATCH the buc game? You do NOT leave a QB in the game when he is playing that poorly and everyone around him is beating their man. NO WAY, do you do that as a coach. The team will QUIT on the coach and QB. A couple of games of over thrown passes, bad decisions, passes hanging WRs out there, and the team will start to think "why am I busting my ***, when this guy cant get it done?" You lose a team like that.

Gus is NOT the future. Normally you would stick with your QB, however, Gus has shown nothing this preseason, he hasn't proved anything, and his ability is questionable. Its not like this is a former superstar and he isnt an up and coming star, so who cares if he is emotionally scared by being benched in the first game.

What makes my question bad, is that there is a chance Saban is faced with this question come game day. If there are several over thrown balls that wouldve been TDs and we are down by some points, I see Feeley coming in. Bottom line, Saban wants to win games, he will not sit by while a single player is messing it up for other guys. Which is what Gus did against the bucs.

And of course LAME fans, like yourself, got on him for that back then. But as McNabb said, 'its important to stay positive when things are tough, you have to remain positive so you can bounce back.'

Funny, most Feeley-haters believe he is too emotional. When he feels good about his play, he is entitled to smile. I've never seen him throw an interception without showing frustration, he obviosuly cares about his performance.

Here's a thought.... what happens if Gus performs admirably? No one seems to think this can happen, based on his "career" play.
I believe it can happen, but it is also definitely possible that he stinks up the joint like so many FF's (Feeley Fans) expect him to.

I wouold be very happy if Gus starts and plays well, that means teh fins play well.
