Baldy's break down of Tua for preseason raiders game

Go back and watch the play you will see the safety #24 went to the opposite side of the field. All i am saying is he needs to be able to make those plays when the opportunity presents itself. Wilson had the corner beat and with his accuracy that most rave about it should have been a completed pass. Im looking for growth from Tua and too many times last season these types of plays were missed.
I saw that. But if a throw to Wilson is the 3rd in his progression, and a throw to Chase Edmonds is the 2nd, is Tua supposed to ignore/bypass his progressions?

Wilson was his first read. Tua got a little bit of happy feet and scrambled to his left and came off Wilson and hit Edmonds. Which was still a good play. Tua needs reps behind an actual NFL level OL and O staff. Kid has been throw to the wolves from day one in the NFL. He now has a O staff that is NFL level and while the OL won't be good by any imagination it won't be a train wreck like last year. I think he will recover from all the crap but it will take some to get that comfort level back.

We all want Tua to succeed.

He's a six-foot QB without an elite/special athletic skill set, that's tough for anyone to overcome.

Unless he makes the jump, Miami is average.

He absolutely does have a elite skill. He is one of the most accurate QBs and has an elite release. Literally every scout since he was in HS has said this. He was considered the sure fire #1 pick over all for 2 years and would have been if not for the injury. He was also the #1 QB out of HS. You don't get rated that high over and over without having an elite skill set.

Now that doesn't mean he will be an Elite QB in the NFL. 99% of QBs drafted in the 1st round have elite skills, but about 99% of those QBs that become elite become that because of the mental aspects off being an NFL QB.

Why does every positive Tua post have to end with "this will show the haters"? I feel like kindergarden in here. It's ok to have a different opinion, even if it's not the same as yours. I for one think Tua has shown nothing so far to make me believe he's the real deal. One awesome pass won't change that. At the same time one terrible interception will not make me scream "cut his ass". He's our starter this year, I have my doubts but I'm ok if you believe he's going to take us to the promised land.

Why does every thread have to have replies like yours? It doesn’t only work one way.

If you don’t get why there’s built-in angst and frustration with the overzealous hater club — you just haven’t been paying attention the past 2 years thus there’s no helping you.

Well to be fair, most Tua criticism is on the kindergarten level. Typically their posts are riddled with poor grammar, short sentences, parroting simple minded things from others. Seems like a 5 year old’s mentality to me.

He’s not getting that it’s “reaction” to the nonstop negativity and trolling that’s dominated most threads the past 2 years. And, yes, trolling is an appropriate term considering the same group of anti posters continue to litter and devolve threads that either aren’t even about Tua or were created with the explicit ask to stay out of the thread that was created specifically for postivity.

He has to have some elite qualities or else he’d not be Top 5 pick or rated like he was. It’s not all intangibles to be rated that high. And elite athleticism and arm is so overrated for a great qb. It’s a bonus. Montana brees and Brady don’t have elite arms or athleticism yet hof qbs

I am fan of Tua. But yes he needs to get better/faster on some of his reads. Wilson did come open but it looked like he moved off him already. Also on the dump in the flat to Gesicki(I think) he stayed on the deep guy to long. He hits Gesicki just a second earlier he had nothing but green grass in front of him.

We will see if Tua can have the game as they say "slow down" for him. So far who knows he has had one of the worst OLs ever in the NFL. He has great accuracy and a great release. His arm strength is good enough. It will all come down to processes and confidence. The last staff and OL didn't do this kid any favours. The last time I saw a situation so bad for a QB to start out was when Houston threw David Carr to the wolves. That kid probably still hears footsteps coming after him.
He had less than 2 seconds to pass the ball on the majority of his passes last year and yet he still completed over 65% of his passes. I believe he is excellent at getting his reads quickly and getting rid of the ball.

Perhaps when he feels more comfortable behind the OL and he gets more than 2 seconds to pass the ball, he will have the time to scan the field and find more open receivers.

As long as he has to play behind a substandard OL, Miami will be average no matter who the Dolphins QB is. Even with just an average OL, I believe Tua can have a great season. We just have to wait and see if the OL can play at an average level this season.

"BUT TuA DiDNt tHROw IT DEEP! And SkYlAR IS OUT THERE SLINGING IT oVer tHEM mOunTAINS OVER THERE LIKE uNcLE rICO IN the movie NAPOLEON dynamite"

But seriously, He even shows the progressions Tua went through, Wrs weren't open deep but Tua was like a point guard out there finding the open guy. Obviously regular season is different and the real thing, but I like him and his read progressions. But go figure, a little protection and there will be some time for him to go through them. Anywhoo, I thought I'd share this

Thank you for providing a post with some "meat" on it (video support for everything you said).

Cry me a river. That’s exactly what I mean. If you can’t handle people with different opinions, a message board isn’t for you.

What are the groups thoughts on that Gesicki pass? IMO over the middle has been a weak point at times for Tua…sometimes his footwork seems off under pressure and he has made some errors over the middle.

On that Gesicki pass, live, it looked like a bad choice. But as Baldy shows, it hit him in the face!!! Granted, that Safety was about to kill him…kind of a hospital pass.

What do people think? Poor choice? Bad hands? A little of both?

Man we're talking about a 6'5" TE... he should be the one putting DBs in the hospital... catch the ****ing ball...
