Who? Robinson or Crowell?

So what, Robinson is coming off of injries and Crowel hasn't done squat. I am comfortable with the core unit being pretty young with Chambers, Thompson and a veteran in McKnight. Wanny even stated that the team this year won't use many four wideout sets and McMicheal, Konrad and Williams will get the balls a fourth receiver normally would have. As skeptical as I am about Wanny, I think this is the right place to go. Throw in Charlie "felon" Rogers as a kr/pr specialist and occasional reciever and I think this core is pretty much set. Not great, but better than last year.

"So what" is he fact that plenty of Dolphins fans were looking at Robinson as our WR "impact" move this offseason. Personally I think Thompson will be that player, but a lot of fans were counting on Robinson.

It's official....

Article from the Baltimore Sun... sounds as official as it can get for now.
Ravens agree to deal with M. Robinson
Former Bears receiver gets one-year contract, will add experience at position

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed in principle to a one-year contract with former Bears wide receiver Marcus Robinson.

He will be in Baltimore on Tuesday to sign the contract, and will participate in the Ravens offseason workout program and attend the May 9-11 minicamp.

Robinson, 28, underwent a physical and had a brief morning workout before meeting with coach Brian Billick yesterday. He spent six seasons with the Bears, but he finished three of those years on injured reserve because of injuries to his thumb (1997), back (2000) and knee (2001). Ravens officials said Robinson appeared healthy during the workout.

"Marcus will provide more veteran experience to our receiving corps," general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "He will be one year removed from his knee surgery. Our experiences with players coming off surgery and the second year they seem to be able to get back to the level of performance they were playing at before the surgery. If that is the case with Marcus, this will be a really nice addition for us."

The back injury came on the heels of a breakout season in 1999 for Robinson in which he was second in the NFC in catches (84) and fourth in receiving yards (1,400). Robinson became one of the league's newest deep threats in the '99 season with six catches over 40 yards and nine touchdowns.

His numbers have been in decline since, but Robinson said he feels he can get back to that level. After the breakout season, Robinson made 55 receptions for 738 yards in 2000 before the back injury, and he had 23 catches for 269 yards in 2001 before tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Robinson recovered well enough to play in every game last year, but he was the fourth receiver and caught just 21 passes. Robinson, scheduled to earn $4 million this season, was cut with a year left on his contract.

Robinson is entering his seventh year in the NFL and has 187 career receptions for 2,695 yards and 20 TDs in 28 starts.

"It's a good feel here," Robinson said of the Ravens. "The guys are young and coming up. The defense is great, and they got two young quarterbacks."

Robinson worked with Ravens offensive coordinator Matt Cavanaugh, who held the same position with the Bears, his first two seasons in the NFL. Robinson's wife is also from Baltimore, which the team had hoped would persuade the 6-foot-3, 215-pound, fourth-round pick out of South Carolina.

Robinson will compete with free-agent newcomer Frank Sanders to become a starter opposite Travis Taylor

Keyword, HEALTHY! Let's wait and see shall we? am willing to bet that Chambers and either McKnight o Thompson have similar to better numbers than Crowell (argument becomes moot if in fact, Crowell joins Miami). Robnson is older now and still recovering from injuries. I don't know man, my preference is with the younger guys not atling serious injuries...geez that came out wrong. Oh by the way, I didn't talk, I typed:goof:

Who in their right mind would go to Baltimore over the Dolphins? Oh well.....

Exactly. But my point is that you didn't make it seem that way. You didn't say last year, you made it look like he hasn't done squat in the NFL, period.

He's(Germane) WAY worth the risk. I can't see him getting more than the minimum because no one else has shown interest. We'll see..
