**Bills/Phins Post Game**

I'd say the Titans loss was the debacle and the gift that kept on giving.

This was more of a bad strategy/gameplan, but maybe we were forced into a bad/conservative gameplan with all the injuries.
The first half was definitely game planned around the injuries. McDaniel knew he had to shorten the game. It worked and he is not receiving nearly enough credit.

My beef is the two possessions when we led 14-7, and the one possession at 14-14. NFL games are not won with 14 points. That should have been McDaniel's thought process at 14-7, not that we had a 7 point lead. I've mentioned this countless times. Get to the point production number and everything tends to work out. We had to pursue 24 or preferably 27+.

If Tua had thrown interceptions at 14-7 it wouldn't have bothered me. Instead we treated those possessions with no urgency whatsoever. At that point it felt like a matter of time. As a bettor I have reference points from every decade. Not Dolphin games. All games. I know how these games unfold late when the outmanned injured underdog tries to sit on a short lead. This time it happened to be a punt return. That was trivial. It's always something.

Then the Run-Run-Pass sequence at 14-14 was McDaniel's worst coaching since he got this job.

Bills fan here. First, let's get the obligatory trash talk out of the way:

Last night reminded me of the old saying: The Dolphins annual collapse is like Hanukkah. No one knows exactly when it is, but it starts in December, and is a time of great rejoicing. And boy, was this an epic collapse. 9-3 and a comfortable 2.5 game lead in the division, to go 2-3 through the end of the season and fall to the 6th playoff seed, losing the last game of the season at home to an arch-rival. That's one for the ages. I gotta admit, I'm drinking the salty tears of Fins fans today like a fine champagne.

Now that the trash talk is done, here's the honest opinion of your team from a division rival looking in:

You have a good team. A very good team. I was worried about this game. I honestly didn't think the Bills would win - I'm still surprised they did. You were Raheem Mostert and two starting edge rushers away from comfortably winning that game. Your offense has dangerous speed - last night, I saw at least three plays where Achane or Hill were one missed/broken tackle away from springing a large gain. Your QB is a very good game manager in a very good system (yes, I still mock him as "Tua Turndaballova." I do so admitting it's unwarranted.) Your defense is very solid when healthy. You've had trouble beating teams with winning records this season...but honestly, from the outside looking in, that looks less like a "bad" team than a team still growing and maturing.

Which is to say: some of you are truly nuts. I saw someone wanting to trade Hill? Because for some reason he sucks? Yeah, right...#1 in receiving yards and TDs, #2 in receptions (behind CD Lamb). And some of you want to trade him? Some of you claim Tua is not the answer at QB...bull. He's top-5 in every meaningful QB stat this season, and that's behind an offensive line that's gone through how many different line-ups for you this season? There's at least 20 other teams in the league that wish they had a QB as productive, and he's probably the best you've had since Marino. Some of you say McDaniel isn't the answer at head coach...look, I laugh at McDaniel. He looks like that flannel-wearing, cocoa-drinking beta-male soy-boy advertising the Affordable Care Act ten years back. But he's put together an offensive system with all the right players in places that maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. PLEASE get rid of all of them. Blow it up. As an opposing division fan, I would love to see you fall back to the level of the Jets or Pats again, and see the Bills dominate the division for the next decade.

My point being: some of you really need to get a grip. Difficult, painful loss...but your team is NOT a bad team.

Honest opinion done. Back to trash talking and feasting on your pain. Thanks for attending my Ted Talk. 😁

Ok, ok...I see...yep...yep...I also see your team not winning the SB yet again...so just like Hanukkah?

That run-run-pass felt like his attempt to calm things down for himself after the punt return flipped the game on its head. Like he needed to take a breath and clear his head. It was atrocious.

But it’s a sign of a larger issue with McD - poor in-game control. I thought he was fantastic in the second quarter. He started normalizing the run game with with quick, tight pitches to off tackle runs (rather than the misdirection pitches), plus running between the tackles. Led to two nice TD drives.

And then he never went back to it.

dude, this. he looked so frazzled after the punt return like it was all just moving so fast for him and he didnt know what to do.
he completely lost his marbles again in a tight game. rather than coach with conviction ie try to stop whats working, he freaked himself out and coached away from it

he badly badly needs a veteran coach in his ear.

The sad thing is, this can be one of those things where you either have it or you don’t have it. You really have to marvel at professional athletes and how they are able to block out everything around them. You’re playing in front of 70,000 people and millions watching at home. And they block it all out. The ability to ignore that pressure is incredible and it sets these guys apart. I can remember playing sports when I was younger and trying to mentally slow down what’s going on around you. Some people just can’t do it (I sure as hell found it nearly impossible).

I think it also applies to coaches. McD was has never been a play caller. This is new to him. The pressure of that vs. being a guy on the sideline talking to your position group after a series or sitting the booth observing is vastly different. He really does seem to have brain-lock at times.

Howard already out Saturday

Chubb out for year
Phillips out for year
Van ginkel out for year
Jerome baker missed 5 games came back now out for year
Holland missed half the season
Ramsey half the season
Left guard out for year
Center Williams out for year
Rob hunt rG missed half the season

I can’t even comprehend.

Prior to 2 years ago we weren't even making the playoffs...

We're more than a decent team.

A decent team down the stretch doesn't have a shot at the #1, #2 seed, clinch the playoffs early, and have a shot at the division too.

Yes! We all want more. But people are really dismissing what this team has accomplished this year despite the obstacles.
1 win against a winning team is not accomplishing ****.

McDaniel will tell you as much.
