Bob McAdoo GB QB coach a possible candidate

Look...this is a mess. The owner is supposedly forcing the HC to fire the OC. A czar might come in. The HC and GM have tension between them.

I like continuity, but with all of these issues and the lack of skill Joe Philbin has as head coach, I guess I would clean house.

There are still major issues...
* What happens to Jeff Ireland?
* If he is canned, who replaces him?
* Getting a talented GM will be harder to get if he forced to work with Joe.
* What talented OC will want to work with Joe Philbin who is down to his 9th life?
* Has Joe been emasculated by the owner by forcing him to fire his mentor?

Lots of issues still there...oh yeah, the Wells report will be out in a month. It is a mess and a re-set push is in order.

Hayden, thanks for the in-depth answer. I share your same concerns. Since, the Dolphins will probable settle on only firing Sherman, I hope you're wrong.
There's got to be a case where parts of the team were put together at different times and they still had success. Of course, I can't think of any off the top
of my head.
I do think Ireland needs to go. The 2013 draft alone could be enough to get fired over. Yes, that creates a lame duck situation with Philibin. I'm just not ready to
pull the plug on him unless a 40 year Don Shula is walking through the door.

I don't get the whole hasn't called plays argument.

I haven't called plays either but I know what plays may work during certain situations watching football my whole life.

McAdoo was around the GB offense, understands what creative play calling is, understands moving the qb around helps. Maybe this guy will move Wallace around than just lining him up on the left side.

Also the Go, Go Go cadence will be gone.

People want someone they have heard of who have some good examples on their resume (with a totally different set of players).

Their brain transfers the former players results onto the Dolphin players.

Problem is past player performance is not always indicative of new future player success.

Be careful what you wish for, you wanted Sherman out lets see how well the next guy is....no OC experience, never called plays same as Philbin so we have two guys who never called plays and we still have the same OL......I hope this pound of flesh makes folks happier than they were last week....

Is this daja vu? I know how this movie ends, after Sparano 2nd season the OC fired along with the OL coach who had the 12th best rated line in the league, following yr DC fired, the year after that stick a knife in the coaches back and fire him the following season......repeat...

Huh?? Philbin was the main playcaller at GB and look how good they were when he was there..

Other teams are interested in McAdoo reportedly.

My understanding is that the original blueprint Philbin had was for McAdoo to be OC/QB coach for a year or 2 and basically do what he (Philbin) did in Green Bay with game planning and he'd call the plays.

I'm actually hoping for this. Also, fire Taylor and Turner and i'm pretty happy. Addition through subtraction by a complete offensive staff turnover. Bring some good experienced NFL coaches in, not college bs

probably my favorite quotes ever from Philbin on his time with Green Bay. At least we know we have awesome Power Points!

“If any PowerPoint slide had a spelling or grammar mistake, any typo, any scheme error, that was my responsibility, just like a teacher,” Philbin said.
“If I presented something to the offense, they knew it was going to be done right and done professionally, and I expected them to do the same thing. If I get up there and show them something sloppy or half-assed, the players are going to notice that, too.”

Here is the most dangerous point…if RT fails with whomever this new OC happens to be and the staff is fired….where is this team with their QB? Do you bring RT back with another staff? Do you move off from him?

That is why I wonder if a total clean slate is best for the team.

I am very, very optimistic about Tannehill's future and I believe he will improve next year. With or without better blocking.

I can't imagine how bad it must be to be a fan of this team right now if you don't have confidence in RT to develop. There's nothing to look forward to if you think he's a bust. Nothing.

I REALLY hope so. That is what is most important here is his development.

Philbin never called plays in Green Bay. Mike McCarthy called the plays, and still calls them.

You're right, he just prepped and gameplanned with the offense..... and this: “He and Mike talked about every play he would call,” Packers GM Ted Thompson said. “It wasn’t like Mike was in a vacuum. They did it together.”

He also called the plays in preseason, just for arguments sake.

Oh god no. No more promotions from other teams for high profile positions.

Count me in that half
Never has been an OC and people cheering for him, I bet HALF never heard of him before today.

You answered your own question....if he bombs he is out. There is no wiggle room for the next OC. He could be one and done like Brian Daboll.

So, why am I not surprised that fans here are so basic minded that they know nothing about McAdoo and yet are still crying about him possibly getting a job in Miami.

Its hilarious watching people cry about "rookie" coaches.

Was Sherman a rookie coach? Smh

Something interesting about GB coaches. They tend to subscribe to the theory that rush attempts are important, not rushing yards. Now that Lacy is running well in GB I'm hoping they change their mind a bit.
