Boston anything like TO ?????

I don't see where his off field problems hurt us last year. The injury voided them out anyway IMO.

JERRY McGUIRE

David Boston is not a bad guy, he's just got an ego the size of well....what he is, a body builder.

last year - "The only thing that matters to me is my body" and then bam got hit with an ACL injury.

And it wasnt growth human growth hormones he got busted with, the man takes in over 80 different supplements throughout the week, amongst those are IV mineral drips that have recently been banned...

He's been out of football for 2 years now, he's got alot to prove to me, but there is no better wide reciever in the NFL that you could convince to play a number 3 role the way he does.

all im saying is that you would never see to sign for league minimum

See Boston sign for the minimum?????? He did a few months ago.

edit: I see you're talking about TO.

no **** i say TO wouldnt sign for the league min

Right, you edited it after I quoted you. Of course TO wouldn't sign for the min. If Boston hadn't got hurt and had a 1300 14td season do you think he'd take the min? No he signed a 5 year 43 mil. contract with SD after his good season.. THis doesn't mean I like TO at all. I think he's an idiot and would never want him on this team.

i'm not willing to forgive him just yet... he is just as much a cancer as TO is, just in a different way. TO is a schmuck who makes a huge publicity stink, but at least produces on the field. Boston didn't perform on the field for us last year, and at the same time tested positive for steroids and punched an airline attendant.

I say Boston is just as much a cancer as T.O. is, just in a different way. Boston needs to show he's worth having on the roster. 3 or 4 preseason catches alone will not make that decision for me.

dbo couldn't help getting hurt. the positive test and fight at the airport had absolutely nothing to do with the us being terrible last year. he hasn't done anything to hurt the team. and actually took less money to come back and be apart of our team. and unlike t.o, he doesn't go around on tv bringing attention to himself and calling out teammates.

WOWOWOWOW. Dude, you are quite wrong, and please don't even compare the two. David Boston did not test positive for steroids, he took a LEGAL enhancement that was just banned by the NFL, but it was Legal. He has never done anything but gain respect from players on this team. When do you ever hear him open his mouth either. How can you compare?
did you even read my post? i said he is just as much a cancer as T.O., but in a different way. T.O. has the big mouth. Boston just lets everyone down. Steroids or strength-enhancing substance that the NFL bans, its still not allowed. He also refused to work out with the team last year, instead prefering his own workout regimen. refusing to participate with the team or alter his strength training program to accomodate his weak ankles, its still going against what the coaches last year said and wanted.

he doesn't open his mouth a lot, but that is not what it takes to be a cancer. that is what it takes to make T.O. a cancer.

Guys, i'm not saying he doesn't have skill... but take off the homer glasses. Last year everyone was bitching about Boston because of all his off-field problems, and unwillingness to work with the team. remember? he was a "project", and they brought in Jerry Sullivan hoping he could change him. Did you all forget that already?

Look, don't let two good years out of 5 blind you guys... it was 2000 and 2001 that he did well... he is FOUR YEARS replaced from that last good year. he needs to EARN the respect back, i'm not just going to give it to him. And like i said before, 4 preseason catches isn't going to put me on his bandwagon just yet.

I hope he has to earn respect back, cause if defenses don't respect him, he will light them up. He needs to stay healthy, he recently had a kid & I think that affected him a good way. I like david boston, hopefully he can stay off the banned substances & stay healthy, but he is an above average starting WR when he is on the field.

yeah do you think TO would sign for the league min...:shakeno:

If the Eagles cut him... he is going to have to! If anyone gives him anything more, it is DEFINTELY going to be written even more restrictive than the original contract that we gave Williams, with clauses for paying back all money if he goes AWOL, and severe penalties for insubordination or not reporting.

Personally though, I think the impression I am getting from the Eagles is they are willing to just let him sit at home and rot, if he doesn't get in line. They are not going to let him bend them over and demand a trade or new contract. Personally, I would like to see nothing more.

He is nowhere near as much a problem as TO. To be quite honest I don't think DB or anyone on this board cares if you forgive him or not. I am so sick of people thinking they are above everyone else. You are not perfect, no human being is perfect. As long as he is willing to play and try to help us win games I welcome him. As for TO, now he is a cancer. Cannot compare any other football player to TO is a greedy jerk and ignorant at that. :shakeno:

Other than both being freaks of nature, they are nothing alike now...but I think before Boston learned the word "humility" they were somewhat alike.

If Andy Reid lets T.O. rot at home this season it will send a valuable message to players like him around the league and maybe even to other professional sports. One can only hope that this happens and they contend again this year without him, then he too may learn the word.

He's hardly TO, but David Boston has always been an immensely talented player. I still like him better at a lower weight and less muscle bound, particularly when I review old college tapes I have when he was at Columbus.

As much as Spielman earned the floggings for the bulk of his manuevers, no question acquiring David Boston at that price was an excellent decision, regardless if Boston ever plays a down for us. You need star caliber players to threaten postseason success. We've jettisoned rare talents like Ogunleye and Surtain without replacing that level of player in their spots or elsewhere. IMO, too many posters here thrill to acquiring lesser talents like Bua, Hadnot or Pope, players with some skills but hardly the type who put you over the top or the rest of the league even cares about.

Unless you have a remarkable collection of dedicated, smart, resourceful, team oriented players like New England's, the rest of the league has to rely on finding extreme talent especiallty in critical positions. After the Wanny/Spielman years we're sorely lacking there and virtually everywhere.

If a trade could be done with zero financial implications for the Dolphins, I would far rather have Ronald Curry for the 3 role than I would Boston.
