What do you guys think? Is it destiny to have another chapter in NY-BOS post-season lore? Or do you think that at least one of the opponents (Anaheim, ChiSox) can knock out one of these teams. If it's anyone, it's Anaheim. I think the series goes five, but I can't predict a winner right now.

I would kill for another BOS-NY series. Those 7 games the last 2 years have been the best baseball I have watched ever. 2 very even teams playing there best because they hate the other team.. I can't wait.

Great question. I would love to see another Yank/Sox battle, its what baseball is all about in my opinion. Although I voted that the Angels beat the Yankees, because I feel like the Angels have something to prove this year after being embarassed by the Sox last year, also since 1996 no team has beaten up the Yankees more then the Angels. I don't think that Mussina is healthy (he apparently told a NY announcer that he'd be happy if he didn't have to pitch Sunday against the Sox). Plus other then Johnson, I'm not that confident in the Yankee pitching. Small, Chacon, Wright and Wang in big games? Their bullpen is also a big mess (besides Rivera) remember Gordon has historically been awful in the playoffs, also factor in all the innings Rivera and Gordon had to pitch this year, it clearly hurt them last year in the playoffs. I also think it hurts the Yankees to start the playoffs on the road rather at home where the crowd can really get to a team. I think the Angels will win in 5 games.

Of course my team (Red Sox) have even more ? marks about their pitching and bats which have been cold recently. I just don't buy Chicago as being legit. They only have 3 or 4 players that have playoff experience really. And only 1 pitcher who you can I guess consider to be a playoff/big game pitcher in Freddy Garcia (Orlando Hernandez might not even make the post season roster, let alone be in the starting rotation). The Red Sox have at least proven play off/ big game pitchers in Schilling, Wakefield, Wells and Timlin if they were fully healthy. Also their whole line up other then Tony Graffinano have been in big playoff games and have had a lot of clutch hits in the post season. The Red Sox clearly have the playoff advantage. I think the Red Sox can win this series in 4 games.

Can't get much better than the last two years.

I think most of the country is a little bored of it.

I was disappointed that Cleveland didn't make it...every year, the same teams go to the playoffs. I was rooting for Cleveland at New York's expense.

I feel the same way about how the rest of the country feels. But once the games get started and you get all those stars on the field with drama like the last 2 years even the casual baseball fan is glued to the TV. Cleveland should be good for a few years, Shapiro has done a great job building a young cheap team. When they spend some more bucks on pitching, watchout.

It's overkill at this point. Start the season.....Yanks-Sox. End the season Yanks-Sox. Playoffs Yanks-Sox.

It's too much. MLB has ruined a great thing. They have played so much in so many "Big games" its just one big blur at this point.

They need at least a year away from each other, probably 2......just to make it special again

The Yanks and Sox are both DEEPLY flawed baseball teams. I think the White Sox and Angels will play for the AL pennant. But, if you're wondering, the Yanks are more likely to advance, I think. Right now, Boston is riding David Ortiz, and as good as he is, I don't think he can carry them to the Series.

Every team in this years playoffs if flawed. Not 1 well rounded team of the 8.

Boston has no pitching and I don't see them beating Chicago. NY will go to 5 games, they always do. Who knows who wins that series, a toss up in reality.

I think Houston beats Atlanta due to better pitching. And St.Louis will beat SD.

Hey, Mike, we finally agree on something!

My playoff predictions will be posted later today. I wish the Padres played the Braves in the first round. They would win and I would laugh all winter that the Braves lost to a .500 team in the playoffs.

I agree every team is flawed and there is no clear cut favorite but I think the Yanks are in better shape this year than last year as our rotation is better(even though our starters did pitch well in postseason) and Gordon & rivera are not worn down like they were last year. Our problem is the 6th & 7th innings as our middle relief stinks.

I don't agree with that at all, both Gordon and Rivera threw more innings this year then last.

I wouldn't say the rotation is better either. Sure Johnson helps big time however Mussina is a BIG ? due to his injuries, Wang hasn't been the same some coming back from his injury and also factor in Wang, Chacon and Small never pitched a big game in their life.

It's just to be a VERY interesting post season.... anyone can win it (except for you San Diego).

actually Mariano threw a 1/3 of an inning less this year and 3 less appearances and Gordon threw 9 less innings in 1 less appearance but regradless both appear MUCH fresher this year compared to last year.

as far as the rotation we have a stopper this year, we didn't ave that last year. Randy has been a big game pitcher for us down the stretch and I expect that to continue.
