Breaking News: Mike Pouncey not likely to be punished by the NFL

better than having a guy in there putting tannehill on his back...

I don't think you realize the importance of the center. he doesn't just hike the ball and block whoever is in front of him. If that's all you think he does, you need to play some real football, or talk to a center, or any olineman, and ask them what the center does.

I was dumbing it down. I am fully aware of what a Center does and I have played real football. In fact one of my best friends played Center in the NFL (with Shelly Smith), and was an all conference o lineman at Florida when Pouncey's came in and I pick his brain all the time.

ya I see your point. That average line got us to the play offs, and just in case you haven't noticed, we don't have a great QB.
Do You really think hitting that button every time something happens is the way to go.

The line was NOT average last year it was BAD. Not as bad as some on here want you to believe but bad.
If we went 8-8 with a bad O line and average at best qb play, what would average o line play and good QB play produce? One would think a better record

so you think downgrading from Pouncey, to an average center will help make the oline better? where's the logic?

No, that is a different subject, can't cut him right now, just don't resign him next yr. Downgrading at center and upgrading at guard or tackle makes us better in the future overall.

By average O-Line I mean literally that 14th-17th in the league.
Why do yall think an elite oline is a pre requisite for making the playoffs?? It is not. I do not follow PFT very closely, but I would be interested to see the playoff teams and their Oline ranking the last few years.
Our O-line needs to be better than last year obviously. Even last year we were is a position to make the playoffs with a win over 2 bad division games needing one win, and our D underperformed and QB was average.

no one is saying that. i'm only talking about pouncey. so he's a douchebag off the field. I don't really care. as long as he doesn't break any laws or harms anyone, and he still plays at a high level, I see no reason to dump him.

But But. You said the o line is not that important these days.

again, not as important as other positions. Especially center, everyone wants a great unit as a whole rare to have that. A couple good players, a couple average players, and some depth would be great

I can't believe after last year, some are saying that we are ok with an avg line. We just paid a fortune for Albert, bc this FO thought the same last year....they aren't thinking of making the same mistake.

And yes, there are more important things than a center, but that doesn't mean you throw a Pro bowl center away because he likes to go out, or what he MIGHT do in the future. ****ing ridiculous.

Last year's line wasn't average.

This is
what we have now. Pouncy and Albert good players, the others average. But now you want to get rid of one of our good ones. And if you think that a good center is not important, then WOW. He's the QB of the line. Your FRIEND should and would be insulted by this comment.

I just had a text convo with my buddy I mentioned. he spent 3 yrs in NFL and all sec center at UF I asked him to name the 5 most important positions, and the most imp O line position his response fwiw:
QB, DE, LT, S and Center (he is a center so biased lol) in that order-- A point for you and True I guess lol
LT most imp O line position

Edit: he just texted me back again saying I meant CB not Center ha!
"Center isn't necessarily important except making line calls, so mentally yes"
