Brian Baldinger thinks we struck out on daniel thomas

K. Hunter is still my 2nd favorite back from this class, and I don't think his skill set is too redundant (when speaking of Bush's). That said, way too early to say we missed.

I liked Hunter as well. Better than I liked Thomas. I was also very high on Bilal Powell, who looks like he's pretty much going to spend his entire year on the bench in New York, sadly. But at this point, it is what it is. This FO wanted an Arian Foster type of back, and they got the closest approximation that was available in Thomas. Now if we only had the Texans' offensive line, then we might actually have something.

Everyone realizes that we have not seen him play a game yet and he averaged 4.3 yards per carry in the preseason right?
He had 31 carries for 109 yards (3.5 ypc) and 1 TD in the preseason...mostly against 2nd and 3rd stringers. Don't know where you got 4.3 ypc.

Thomas has not played ONE PLAY and we struck out with the pick ?

Child please .....

people need to lay off daniel thomas, kid has not even played in a game yet... jesus people.

I liked Mark Ingram and hoped the phins would draft him, but we did need help on the o-line and it's hard to fault the FO for picking Mike Pouncy with the first pick, it was a need pick. As for Thomas, he could end up being a steal, let's give the kid a chance to play before making any harsh judgements for Gods sake.

The things that were said about Thomas before the draft were "a finesse back who goes down too easily and is tackled by the first guy". "Is not a power runner and does not run strong despite his size". "Runs too upright and will take too many body shots". "A team looking for a power running back will be disappointed with him". "Takes time for him to build speed and won't outrun anyone".

Its way to early to tell if we missed on him, but right now, he reminds me of JJ Johnson...who was a bust

It's easier to say we missed than we landed - Is it not???

Why not the guy play a down of "real" football before we make these lame judgments

i heard baldy on 640 this morning and almost shat myself. reading the negatives from thomas's scouting report as if he personally worked him out is always fun radio. what a clueless tool. as far as "all the picks we gave up to get him," please. we did not have a second round pick. we had a third round pick. we took our 5th round pick and ONE of our THREE 7th round picks and moved up to take him. to me, if you like a player and don't think he is going to fall to your spot in the third round, giving up your 5th and one of your three 7th's is as close to giving up NOTHING as you're going to get.

Well that 5th rd pick could have been Brady and that 7th Kevin Vickerson for gosh sakes - LOL - I agree what a tool
